OUTSIDE TARDIS
We see the TARDIS materialize on a sunny beach. AMY exits, dressed in sunglasses, shorts, and a tank. RORY follows, and finally THE DOCTOR, carrying a surfboard.
RORY
Where are we then?
DOCTOR
Oh Rory. Trust you not to recognize your own planet!
RORY
(slightly irritated)
Fine. When are we exactly?
AMY
Yeah. And where are all the people?
DOCTOR retrieves Sonic Screwdriver from pocket and scans beach, turning in the process and knocking RORY over with surfboard.
DOCTOR
We appear to be about... 2.7 Billion years in your past.
RORY
(while brushing off sand)
Hold on, does this mean there could be dinosaurs?
DOCTOR
If we're lucky!
RORY immediately turns back toward the TARDIS but is stopped by AMY.
AMY
Come on, don't be such a baby. Let's go SWIMMING!
AMY drags RORY off camera towards the beach. DOCTOR follows, still carrying the surfboard.
BEACH
AMY and RORY splash around in the water, having a good time. DOCTOR tries to surf with surfboard still in the sand.
OCEAN
AMY and RORY balance on the surfboard in the water. AMY knocks RORY off.
BEACH, LATER
AMY and RORY recline on beach towels, umbrella between them. DOCTOR sits next to them, building a sandcastle.
AMY
Doctor, something is wrong.
DOCTOR
Yes, it's this sand! The consistency is all wrong. It keeps getting all clumpy-wumpy!
AMY
No, it's the beach. It's so quiet. Nothing's happening. It's boring.
RORY
There's nothing wrong with boring. I like being able to relax without getting attacked by aliens or... dying.
DOCTOR
Amy's got a point. Who needs quiet when you've got buttons that need pressing. Speaking of buttons that need pressing, I found a new one on the TARDIS console and I'm itching to try it out. Care to join me?
DOCTOR exits to the TARDIS with AMY. RORY turns, hesitant, then grudgingly follows.
INSIDE TARDIS
AMY, RORY, and DOCTOR all gather round the console, looking at a white button as round as a golf ball.
DOCTOR
Shall we have a go?
AMY reaches to press the button. RORY grabs her hand.
RORY
Hold on. Is there any possibility this could kill us?
DOCTOR
(Excited)
Absolutely!
DOCTOR hits button with flourish. Nothing happens.
AMY
Well... That was exciting.
Doctor obsessively presses button.
Doctor
Come on! Just do something! Anything? Please?
AMY
Rory, go check outside.
RORY goes to TARDIS doors and looks outside.
RORY
We're still on the beach. But it's gotten cold. I think it's snowing.
AMY
Don't be stupid. We're on a beach in the middle of summer.
RORY
Yeah, well that doesn't explain the snowflakes and clouds.
BEACH, SNOWING
DOCTOR runs outside. It really is snowing. AMY and RORY follow.
DOCTOR
Snowing on a beach? Well, it's not as fun as almost exploding, but still. You've got to admit it is pretty cool. I've got a snow button!
DOCTOR tries to catch snowflakes on his tongue. The snow it big and the flakes are heavy, coming down fast. He grabs AMY and RORY's hand, pulling them to the ground to make snow/sand angels. They laugh.
DOCTOR
Wait a second! Snow... 2.7 Billion years...
DOCTOR jumps up, grabs AMY and RORY and drags them back to the TARDIS.
INSIDE TARDIS
DOCTOR pushes buttons and TARDIS begins to disappear.
AMY
What's wrong? Is there something dangerous about a little snow?
DOCTOR
No, not a little bit but...
DOCTOR swings the doors the doors open to reveal the beach, completely covered in ice and snow. Nearly unrecognizable.
DOCTOR
I think we may have caused the first Ice Age...
AMY, RORY, and DOCTOR peer out the TARDIS doors at the snowy wasteland.
