("And it would be a fine proposition, if I was a stupid girl.

But honey, I'm no one's exception, this I have previously learned."

- Girl At Home; Taylor Swift)

Lesson number one:

Clair was much like a lady.

But she wasn't like one in the slightest.

She hated to be stared at, hated to breathed next to, even, if she didn't know you, if she thought she was above you, or most of all if you hurt her pride.

She carried her pride, dignified, like a princess, blue eyes, light blue hair, everything about her on the outside was pretty.

But she was a wicked witch, throwing fire at scarecrows every time she could.

She was easy to melt, though. Like the time Surge had tried to impress her:

"I saved that fine ass when I was in the war, y'know."

Clair laughed her haughty, judging, tinkling laugh, as if to pity him, but she was blushing - or as far as his blue eyes behind his obnoxious sunglasses.

She turned, thumped him on the back of the head and left through the door on her dragon.

Lt. Surge - 1, Clair - 0. Ouch.

Lesson number two:

Clair's a bright, brilliant girl. She can never be beaten - intellect wise, not battle wise.

Surge has tried to best her time and time again, but that only winds up with him looking like a douche.

…Oh well?

She would kick his ass if he won, anyway, so beating her wasn't an option.

But kissing her was.

And that's what he did.

All he got was a huge slap across the face and a "How dare you!" before she ran from the room.

Yeah, he should have expected that.

He sighed and sat down. What lesson did he forget?

.

Lesson number three:

Clair hates you.

…Is what he writes down in a memo to himself.

She's not stupid, why does he treat her that way?

It kills him, but he takes off his glasses, four wide blue oceanic eyes meet and he kisses her again.

He gets a blush, a cross of arms and a look that he doesn't understand this time.

"Lieutenant," she says, "…Why did you stop?"
