The winds are strong today, not the type of winds that are fresh the type where it feels like an oven. I feel like ice cream that melts in a blink of an eye. I walk with my twin sister Daisy, who wears the same piece of clothing except in the color of gray. Mine is a light but faded blue. My older brother Ash is eighteen he protects us and love us but he doesn't like showing it. My father died along with all the other miners in the mine explosion he was moved to have a better life for us and return. The day of the Ceremony my brother Ash and our whole family left District 10 and received his medal. There were two other people beside him, they both looked alike, the girl who looked about 12 had grey eyes, and black hair into a dutch braid. The other one, a boy who was about the age of 14 had those seam eyes. I see them on the big screen today at the reaping of the 73rd Hunger games. Daisy stands to my left, my Best friend Acacia, stands to my right. My Mother stands with all the others parents seeing and waiting for their child's fate. My mother who is scared for her three older children, hugs my younger sister Azalea who is six years old, and they embrace each other in their own fear. "Rosemary.. hey Rosie?' I look to my right and see that my best friend Acacia is talking to me. "Yes Cacia?" "I was thinking that after this reaping is over we talk to whoever is chosen because if you think of it all of the thirteen year olds are our friends?" "Yeah, we should.. I mean we are the type of people that can be friends with anyone after all." She nods as Effie Trinket walks up the stage. Effie Trinket walks up to the microphone and says in her Capitol Accent "Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the 73rd reaping, President Coriolanus Snow isn't glad about how the districts have been doing and through the observations of the peacekeepers the thirteen year olds have been causing the most destruction and arguments therefore this year 3 boys and 3 girls from each district will compete, you have one minute to yell and scream how you feel, starting now." It is dead silent all you can hear is the sniffles of everyone and when no one is sniffling, you can hear each others heartbeats. "As always Ladies first." Right now I wish that not every single time it had to be ladies first. Effie walks over to the bowl of all the female thirteen year olds. "First female is Acacia Burke. My heart instanly stops and I can't breathe, I can't speak I don't move. By the time I get the words 'I volunteer as tribute' they had just called Catherine Gates. Catherine was one of my friends who I hung around with when my friends weren't around me. I walk up to the stage and stand on Acacia left. Acacia grabs my hands and squeezes it tightly, as to say "We are going to get through this, Because we are FIGHTERS!." Effie finally announces the last female for these games "For the last female she is Daisy Aubery, this completes the female tributes for District 10." As my sister walks up the stage I look back at my mother who has turned white my sister frozen. My sister's eyes are glossy and my mom's eyes pore tears out without her blinking. "Now for the boys, Caleb Master, Jonas Hart, and Matthew Castor." I hear someone say "I will take his place" and notice that is my best guy friend Austin Carter. The wind gets knocked out of me because not only is my twin sister, best friend are going but also is my best male friend and he volunteered for me. I can't believe that my mom will lose two of her children but I hope that she doesn't cry because my sister, best friends and myself will fight through the end.
