Title: The 10th Resolution
Rating: K+
Summary: Final in the Resolutions series, but you don't need to read the others. Rose and the Doctor both made resolutions to admit their love to each other.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who.
Author's Note: Okay, so I haven't written The Doctor's Resolutions yet. I just wanted to get this out of the way. Bold text is the Doctor thinking, italics is Rose.
The 10th Resolution
It was 11:55 p.m. on the 31st of December. Rose and the Doctor were sitting on the couch in Jackie's flat, waiting for midnight.
You call yourself a Lord of Time? You've had a whole year to do this and you've put it off until the last minute.
Oh God. Why did I wait so long? Talk about pressure …
The Doctor glanced at Rose and smiled, just to ensure her that he was fine.
What was the point of that?
He looks so hot when he smiles …come on, return the favour.
Rose flashed a smile of her own, her tongue between her teeth in its signature fashion.
Oh, what I'd give to have that tongue in my mou… no, don't think like that.
"Where's your mum gone?" asked the Doctor.
"I think she left for Howard's a couple of minutes ago," replied Rose.
So we're all alone …
"Oh," said the Doctor. "So, do you always watch the fireworks on TV?"
"Pretty much," said Rose. "I've seen them up close before, but it's so much easier to just switch off the TV and go to bed afterwards. I'm not into the whole after-party thing much."
"Right, got it, no parties," said the Doctor.
Oh great, there goes my chance of admitting it while I'm drunk.
"Hey, do you want to sit with me?" asked Rose innocently.
"Er, yeah, sure," said the Doctor uneasily. He got up and sat down next to her.
"Brrr, it's a bit chilly," said Rose.
"Oh, do you want my coat?" asked the Doctor.
No, but I'd like you.
"Um, I was thinking more …" Rose indicated towards the Doctor's arm. He quickly nodded and draped it round her shoulders.
Idiot! That's one of the oldest pick-up lines in the book! ... wait, so why was Rose using it?
"That's better," Rose said, snuggling up to the Doctor. Just then, the TV became louder.
"Okay, we're just about ready for the countdown!" the announcer said. "All together now …" (Enter super slow mode used in Mighty Ducks movies, where 1 second takes more like 5)
10…
Please, don't blow this. You can do it.
Just tell her. What's the worst that can happen?
9…
"R-Rose?" said the Doctor.
8…
"Yeah?" said Rose.
7…
It's now or never. You'll regret it forever if you don't.
6…
"I l-love you," said the Doctor. He then held his breath and waited for a response.
5…
Done. Finished. Completed. But what happens now?
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!
4…
Wow, that makes my job so much easier.
3…
"Doctor?" said Rose.
2…
"I love you too."
1…
That night there were fireworks, and they weren't on the TV.
