Here's a one-shot, about what happens when Jace gets a cellphone.
JACE POV
I hear a knock, and I get up and open the door.
I see Clary smiling.
"Hey, happy birthday!" She says then hugs me tightly and I kiss the top of her head, I'm so lucky to have someone like her...
"Since today's your birthday... I decided to get you a gift..."
I look at her sternly.
"Clary... we talked about this-" She silences me with a quick peck to the cheek.
"I know, but.. promise you won't get mad" I nod.
She pulls out a small box, wrapped in newspaper, with a little bow on top.
She pushes the box to me, urging me to open it.
I open it, there's a small device... resembles a Sensor, yes, it's a new Sen- wait, it isn't.
"What the hell is this?"
She raises an eyebrow at me skeptically.
"Really Jace? It's a cellphone."

ALEC POV
I'm sitting peacefully, until I hear the screaming...
"I DON'T NEED A CELLPHONE!"
"Yes you do! I want to know if you're safe or not! Plus you need to get in touch with some technology, Jesus Christ!"
"I'M ALWAYS SAFE!"
"Jace! Stop screaming!"
"Take it back to the store!"
"NO!"
Yes, this will go on for a hell of a long time...

"Okay, so this button, is what you press to answer phonecalls..." Clary continues.
"Then what's this for?"
"Ughhh Jace! That's the number 7!" She sighs. She looks up at me in frustration.
"Look, Clary I appreciate the effort, but I'm just not good at this..."
"No. Let's continue," She looks back at the cellphone.
"Okay, this red one, is what you press to end the call, got it?" I nod my head, she continues.
"Now, to send me a message, you press this center button called 'MENU' then scroll to 'MESSAGES' then you press 'COMPOSE MESSAGE' and you select 'CLARY 3' I already added myself to your contacts..."
"What's that little 3 next to your name?" I ask.
"Really? That's a heart..." She laughs and shakes her head. "Now, let's add you some contacts. Okay, so, let's get Isabelle, Magnus, Simon, and Alec for now..."
I stare at her in shock. "They all have cellphones?"
"Uh, duh, Jace!"

I sit in my room and read quietly when I hear a 'beepbeepbeep' I snatch my cellphone and read the message.

Kan you askk yur stupid boyfrend, to make hiss cat shut the hel up plz?
I answer his message.

I hear another ping.

"So... I just threw a chair out the window for no reason?"
