"Wow." Leo thought.
"The son of the god of fire, freezes to death." He laughed, halfheartedly.
Leo had run away from camp. Again. Nothing bad had happened to him, but his mother had always told him never to stay in one place too long. Too bad that the only time he could run away was at night. Too bad that the only weather at night had been blizzards, for the past week. Too bad that he didn't have any winter clothes, because he could... you know... catch on fire. Too bad that the snow extinguished his flame before he could warm himself up.
Shivering, he found a small tree that shielded him from some of the snow. The only thing he had brought with him was his tool belt, but it wasn't giving anything useful at the moment.
"Leo! Get your butt back to camp! When I find you, I swear, I will just UGH"
He chuckled to himself as he heard Annabeth. He knew that no matter what happened, he wouldn't make it to camp. He already could see the spots clouding his vision, and his blue lips start tingling. He felt a surreal wave of peace, and he knew he was dying. He heard a twig snap, and looked to see a very angry daughter of Athena.
Her expression changed, though, when she saw him. He was pale, cold, and his breath came in short ragged gulps of air.
He smiled at her, but winced once she opened her mouth.
"What is wrong with you, Leo!? Were you trying to get yourself killed?" He saw a tear slip down her face. Man, he was a terrible friend.
"I couldn't stay." He breathed. "Mama told me not to."
"Y-your mother?"
"She told me never to stay in one place for too long. I said yes. I broke the promise, and stayed at camp for three years. Now I have.."
"You have to what Leo?" Annabeth asked leaning down.
"I have to go. And you have to go... to Percy. I'm dying anyway, so it won't matter." He chuckled.
"I'm not leaving you." She replied, sternly.
"But I... I think I might me leaving.. y-you." Leo's brown eyes met Annabeth's grey ones, before they fluttered shut. But this time, it wasn't a blink. This time, they didn't open again.
