Addison storms out of the room, fuming. Behind her, Alex Karev follows, eyebrows furrowed.
She walks up to a nurses station and places the patient's binder on the counter, smiling at a nurse.
"That woman deserves to know the truth," Alex tells her venomously, standing at her side. She spins around, smile slipping from her face and eyes blazing.
"Yes, she does. And I know it's not your 'thing,' but maybe you can sugar coat it just a little because she just lost her child," she spits.
He leans in closer, challenging her. "She made the decision to open that bottle of vodka after her husband left."
Addison stares back into his eyes before looking up to see several bystanders watching. She grabs his arm roughly and drags him a few yards into an on-call room.
"Just because your father was an angry drunk doesn't mean you can take it out on your patients," she says to him after closing the door behind her.
"And you don't have to cut her slack because your husband left you for another woman," he retorts, stepping closer and trapping her between the door and himself. Her mouth drops open slightly; that was a low blow.
"You have no idea-" she starts, but he interrupts.
"I know that you held on to him for as long as you could. You were so scared of being alone, it wouldn't matter who he was thinking about when he was touching you," he says lowly. "It was pathetic."
She glares at him for a few moments, but failing to respond, she turns to open the door.
But Alex shoves his hand into the door above her head, preventing her from opening it. He grabs her arm and pushes her against it.
Surprised, she looks at him for a few seconds, but soon the shock slides from her face. They look at each other for a few seconds before his eyes slowly move down to her lips.
He cranes his neck forward, leaning in for the kiss. Their lips meet tentatively, testing each other.
She opens her mouth to allow him in, and their tongues clash. He steps closer, putting his hands on either side of her, pressing into her body and her hands find their way to his hair, combing through it.
As he makes his way down to kiss her neck, she takes a second to comprehend what was really happening.
"Alex," she gets out, breathless, and he returns to her lips.
Placing his hands on her hips, he slides them upwards to remove her scrub top, and as his fingers touch her skin, Addison stops thinking altogether.
