Seven days ago, you asked me to run errands
I stood in the gas line for five hours in the rain
It felt more like ten, transgenic patience be damned.
And your expression made it all worthwhile in the end.
Six days ago you challenged Biggs to a street race
I told you I had fifty on Biggs because he had a faster bike.
There was no contest in my mind about who was going to win
And I laughed when you crossed the finish line in first place.
Five days ago I gave you a new cell phone
You accepted with a little more grace than I had anticipated.
You even said thank you.
It was almost enough to make me tumble from my bike.
Four days ago, I kissed CeCe on the cheek
And then you refused to look at me all morning,
Until you caught Biggs groping her up against the wall.
Then you couldn't look at all three of us for the rest of the day.
Three days ago I went to the markets with Biggs
And I brought a live chicken over to your apartment.
You made dinner for the two of us that evening.
Then you let me share your bed for the night.
Two mornings ago I woke up to the smell of your cooking.
Then you bitched at me all morning for stealing the covers.
To apologise, I took some of your longer runs
And there was a packet of pork rinds in my locker by lunch.
Yesterday you caught me in a moment of weakness
And I blurted out I was in love with you in the middle of Jam Pony.
I waiting for some part of your body to make contact.
Every conversation stopped when it was your lips that met mine.
