My name is Chalas. I'm a Rogue. Now, one might ask, "Why would anyone want to be a Rogue? All they do is sneak around in the dark and kill or steal things." Sometimes both, actually. And that is exactly right, which makes us some of the most valuable mercenaries in Azeroth. This is just one of my tales…

I was working with the Farstriders in the Ghostlands in order to thin out the Amani and Shadowpine Trolls, when Captain Helios contacted me and requested the termination of a specific target: Kel' gash the Wicked. Now, I had heard of Kel' gash a while back, which came in the form of the body of a friend of mine. I knew I was going to need some help for this.

I contacted a fellow rogue by the name of Gerick, and we set out to Zeb' nowa, where Kel' gash was known to dwell. It took us a while to find out which hut was his. These accursed troll structures all look the same! After assassinating our way through most of the village, we decided to go for the sneaky approach to eliminating Kel' gash himself.

We stealthily crept into his hut, discovering two Shadowpine Headhunters on the first floor. No sign of Kel' gash. Gerick and I each killed one of the guards. The only good troll is one with a dagger in its back. As we moved up the stairs, we discovered a small landing. Still no Kel' gash. There was another set of stairsleading to a top floor balcony. We stealthily tip-toed around the balcony, discovering a lone, extremely large, figure: Kel' gash the Wicked. I signaled to Gerick to go one way around the circular balcony, while I went the other way.

When we met behind the troll leader, I gave the signal to Gerick, meaning I took out my garrote wire and pulled it around Kel' gash's neck. As I suspected, my strength alone was nowhere near enough to hold the thin wire around this massive creature's throat, so Gerick and myself also had our daggers ready. As soon as Kel' gash broke free, we smothered him in a hail of stabs. But, being the beast of a troll (an understatement) that he was, he held out for quite a while. Then we started to get worried. He threw a massive punch that knocked me off me feet and sent me flying back a few feet. I was immediately concerned for Gerick, as one rogue alone is not enough to handle a troll of this size in single combat… or was he? Gerick dodged almost everything Kel' gash threw at him, only taking glancing blows from time to time. It was like watching a troll try to fight water (which I have actually seen before; It's quite comical). By this time I was able to struggle to my feet, and whipped out my bow and let loose an arrow right into the back of Kel' gash's neck. This gave Gerick an opening, which he used to plunge one of his daggers deep into the trolls heart. He fell to the floor, dying within a few seconds.

From there it was a simple matter of severing his head, putting it in a cloth sack, and returning it to Captain Helios. When we arrived back at the Farstrider Enclave, I walked up to the captain and presented the troll's head. He congratulated us, "Well done, men! You two would make fine Farstriders!" We had to remind him that we weren't working for free. He looked abashed, and possibly a little angry. "A deal's a deal." He said, and let us choose from a sword or a bow, along with the payment of 25 silver pieces.

I chose the bow, while Gerick, being the assassination specialist, chose the sword. Both of which were fine weapons, and sure to get plenty of use.
