Daniel knew that jack was bored. Why? Because Jack was currently in his office with that look in his eyes that he knew he was about to be a pain in the ass and wasn't going to apologize. The ancient writings found that remained tantalizingly close would just have to wait until Jack left his office in peace.
"Hey there Danny boy. What cha up to?"
"Oh I was just translating the video tapes SG-12 brought back from P2X-989. They look like Classic Mayan writings and may date to the same period-"
"Forget I asked." Jack poked around the rest of Daniel's office, seemly content to just him get back to his work. Daniel new better so he kept a close eye on his team leader.
"Hey, what's this?" Daniel looked at what Jack had picked up. He couldn't believe he hadn't returned that to the lab yet. "It looks like a rock."
"To you, all my artifacts look like rocks. You even call the wooden items rocks."
"Yeah, but they.." Daniel watched in amusement as Jack struggled with the words. "They don't really look like rocks, kinda sorta. They always have something on them. But this one it looks like a real, picked up off the ground rock. More like something I'd find in Carter's office, not yours."
"How do you know she didn't leave it here?"
"Yeah right, like either of you would leave a rock behind."
"It's just a coprolite." Jack still looked on without any comprehension and Daniel realized that he didn't know what he was holding. An evil smile spread across his face. "That means it's an ancient piece of shit, Jack."
Daniel chuckled to himself as Jack left saying something about "disgusting archaeologists."
