Happily Ever After

Sam awoke as rays of sunlight made their way across her bed. She stretched, wondering what she should accomplish on this beautiful day. With a glance to her right she confirmed that it was still quite early, 8:23 am to be exact. With a glance to her left she confirmed that, once again, she was awake before her husband, who was currently sprawled out on his stomach, snoring lightly.

As she quietly snuck out of the room and headed for the kitchen she pondered the events that had taken place over the last two years that had changed her life so dramatically. First, and foremost, the extinction of the Ori. Second, her much earned early retirement. This was closely followed by trip to Washington to see Jack O'Neill. That visit had consisted of both Jack and herself officially admitting that they no longer cared for each other in that particular way and they that they would always be great friends. Then, shortly after that trip, Sam had realized her true feelings for another man, a man who strongly and eagerly returned those feelings. Relationship, engagement and marriage quickly followed and that lead to this precise moment.

Sam still worked with the SGC as a civilian, when they needed her expertise, as did the rest of SG-11 who were also retired. Amazingly, Sam had discovered that, although she had spent thirteen years going off-world and saving the earth, she could actually live a life that was not full of action and death defying situation. In fact, she was living quite a normal life and discovered that she had time, a lot of time to do normal earth activities. She was able to write her book. She had finally learned how to cook (and she was pretty good at it by now). Most importantly, she had all the time in the world to spend with the man she loved, time she would never have had had she married when she was still at the SGC. Yes, life was good. Sam had lived one life which consisted of her career and now she was living another life, a normal, domesticated life, one which she thought she'd never have.

As Sam switched on the coffee maker she heard the unmistakable sound of shuffling feet behind her and she smiled as familiar arms wrapped themselves around her waist from behind.

"Mm, coffee. Coffee is good." Cameron Mitchell's voice stated at her left ear, where his chin was resting on her shoulder. "You know, after years of getting up before the sun you would think it would be easy to break the habit and sleep in. I mean, that biological clock thing that happens is just wrong. I want to get up at noon for the rest of my life and not a minute earlier. I think I've, we've, earned that luxury."

"Yeah well, while that would be nice, it would also be a complete waste of half the day." Sam turned within Cam's arms, out her arms around his neck, and kissed him good morning.

"Good morning to you too." smiled Cam.

"What do you think we should do today?" asked Sam, still snuggled in Cam's warm embrace.

"Well, yesterday you said that Cassie was in town so I think we should spend the whole day with her. After all, you were complaining not to long ago that you never get to see her anymore."

"Sounds like a plan." Sam smiled. "That's one of the reasons I love you. You always have an answer for everything."

"But of course! As for right now, though, I'm going to take a shower. You wanna join me?" Cam wiggled his eyebrows at his suggestion.

"Always." answered Sam as they retreated to the back of the house, the coffee forgotten.
