A/N: Hello World, Hurricos back. It's been awhile since I've posted a story here. I blame procrastination for that. I've decided to try something new with my story directions.
Prologue: Vis Ventus
BREEEEEEEEEEEEWOOOOOOOOOO!!
Sirens blared as the firetrucks roared down the street, streaking through traffic as agilely as a huge vehicle can.
I watched you as you watched them go past, a peculiar look on your face. Something wasn't right in your eyes, and it showed when you took off running after them. Curious as to how this plays out, I followed you, out of sight.
Eventually you led us to an apartment complex, all in its blazing glory. The biggest blaze possibly, in city history. Quite fascinating to watch, really.
You had a horrorstruck look on your face as you mumbled someone's name that I couldn't make out, and ran towards the building, dodging firemen and jumping blockades.
You must've startled me with that as I had then let out a loud gasp and streaked towards you on your heels. Albeit, more clandestinely than simply running through everyone. Don't look so surprised that no one stopped me, after all, you never saw me follow you, did you?
You ran up to the 3rd floor grimacing at every lick of flame that hoped to touch you. But you were determined to see your goal…I'd like to think that you received that sense from me. But you had it all along.
I saw your eyes lit up despite the danger upon seeing that door, 31B, and you kicked down that door, running in. I was a little tired already. The heat saps my energy like you wouldn't believe, but I fought with myself to stay there. I had to make sure you were alright.
'What was that?!!' I heard cracking, and then something falling. I ran to the doorway only to see you lying there on the floor, unconscious, debris and wood laying on you. Two little ones crowded around you, and the body of a woman lied only a few feet away, I wonder if she's still alive. The children looked up at me with their tearstained faces, and it made my heart lurch uncomfortably to see that.
"O-our aunt came to help us, but the h-h-house hit her head." The little boy spoke with a trembling lip, as if he was about to burst into tears.
His sister beat him to the punch, as she ran to me, burying her head in my clothes. "Please help us." She pleaded looking at my face. "Help mommy and auntie."
I nodded grimly, walking over to drag their mother's body to their aunt. "Remove the wood and trash from your aunt, hurry now."
The children did as they were told with alacrity, and soon that brave (and foolish) young lady looked none the worse for the wear save a few scratches. I reached out with one arm to wrap the children in while the other rested on the bodies of the two young women.
The little ones watched with curiosity as I began my chant. "Vis Ventus, prognatus o Sol solis, veho mihi absentis, meus opus hic perfectus."
I smiled as the shock on their faces as the wind picked up around us, and streaks of silver seemed to swirl around us.
A moment later, we were gone. And the apartment finally collapsed on itself.
End of Prologue.
