."Connor ?" said my trembling voice.
"Umm ? What's the matter ?" he replied, his deep voice still tired from his lack of sleep for the past two days.
We were laying on his bed, his strong arms surrounding me and his breath tickling my neck. The Davenport Mansion was silent since Achilles death, but we could hear the sounds of the forest around us.
"I'm not feeling very well… I think I have a cold because of our little swimming in the river…" My voice was hoarse and my head felt like it was going to explode. "I'm so cold…" My whole body was shivering under Connor's arms. He turned me around so I
was facing him.
"Shh… It's alright… You just have to relax today… And it's two in the morning ?! Did you get any sleep ?" Connor sounded preoccupied and put his hand on my forehead. "Oh God ! You are piping hot ! I have to go get the doctor !" He was starting to shift
in the bed to leave.
"No ! Stay with me… please… I just need you near me. And I don't want to see any doctor… you know" I had a fear of doctors since Connor's last injury. I know they saved him, but whenever I saw a doctor, it reminded me of that. A silent tear was going
down my cheek at this memory.
"Don't cry… It's okay, I'm here now. I will never let you down." He cupped my face with his left hand and swiped away my tears. "I can't handle seeing you sick and sad... You look so tired… did you slept tonight ?" He moved his hands in my back to try
to warm me up
"Don't be mad at me please… but I couldn't sleep… I didn't wake you up because I know you have been working hard and you are really tired" My voice was meant to be reassuring, but he could hear the tiredness.
"You should have woken me up… I'm sorry, love." He lowered his head, trying to hide his guilt. "It's my fault that you're sick ! It was my idea to swim in the river ! I'm so sorry…"
I lifted his chin gently, wanting to look him in the eyes. His big, wonderful eyes that I can stare in for hours. "Connor, don't blame yourself. It's not your fault, you don't have to feel guilty."
"But…"
"Shh…" I advanced my head toward his and let my lips capture his. It was a gentle, yet firm kiss. I felt that he was trying to retain his kiss, but he finally kissed me as if it were the last time he did.
"I love you." he whispered
"I love you too, Connor."
