Saturday Morning Cartoons
Saturday mornings and cereal go hand in hand with cartoons. Anime-watcher Naruto Uzumaki would swear up and down on that and pledge his allegiance to it. One Friday, he invited his boyfriend to spend the weekend with him. The next morning—you guessed it—they watched mind-numbing cartoons and ate sugary cereal.
"Seriously, Naruto. You need to start taking some breaks from anime," Sasuke said as he got the milk from the fridge. "This place is getting filthy! Those dishes are stacking to mountains."
Naruto ignored him. Taking breaks would mean missing out on the latest things.
"Looks like we have to share, Sasuke." Unfortunately, Naruto was too busy catching up on Fairy Tail, so there was only one clean bowl that morning. He rinsed it out and shook it over the sink.
Sasuke rolled his eyes. "I don't mind. At least we have more than one spoon. What cereal do you want?"
"Cocoa Puffs!"
"Eww, chocolate…we're sharing, remember?" He got out another box. "How about Apple Jacks?"
Like Sasuke didn't care for chocolate, Naruto didn't really care for cinnamon. He knew what he wanted and planned on getting to munch on it. "But I want Froot Loops."
"Let's just mix 'em together in the bowl. I'll never win this breakfast war."
So the two cereals joined forces in the bowl. Cool milk rained over the fibre-y, gluten-free goodness, and two grateful spoons dug in. Naruto and Sasuke crunched and munch on the couch, still in their pyjamas, sitting closely with a blanket draped over their shoulders. When the commercials ended, the Saturday morning could resume character.
'I wanna be…the very best…that no one ever was…'
Naruto quickly ate through his share of the bowl, leaving Sasuke with a flood of milk and blue rings.
"Naruto! You ate more than I did!"
The blonde looked down and blushed. "Oops, I guess I got a little excited. Japan never uses the English dubbed opening." He scooped up some cereal with his spoon. "Open wide, Sasuke. You can have the rest."
Sasuke gave a light sigh and took in Naruto's peace offering. "I'm putting you on a diet, you piggy otaku. It'll do you a favour." With that he brushed his cheek with milky lips.
Naruto rested his head on his shoulder and focused on the TV.
'Don't push it, teme…' he thought.
