They'd gone up to the top of the waterfall, a place like so many others that held so many memories for them. They remember snatching a few moments of peace before Arran in the church and thinking they'd finally made it, but Todd remembered it for one thing over everything else. This was where he realised that he knew Viola Eade. Which is why he'd chosen this place over all others. He'd been hiding it in his noise for so long and it was buzzing with anticipation as they watched the sun set over Haven, Viola could tell, she was looking at him funny because he was practically knowing his lip off with excitement but she knew he didn't want her to ask what was going on.
As the sun had reached the best place, where it bathed the whole city on an orange glow, Todd decided now was the perfect time and his noise was spiking all over the place in all colours. He stood up and held out his hand. Viola took it as he walked as close to the waterfall as he could get while still being able to hear everything. "Do you remember the last time we were here?"
"Of course, it was years and years ago but yeah, I do."
"What d'you remember exactly?"
"I remember the sun and we were sitting right here. The waterfall was really loud but we could still hear, and your noise was jumbled but it was nice. Calm before the storm I guess."
"I remember this moment as a… what's the word? An epiphany. I realised that if you know someone enough, they don't need noise for you to tell what they're thinkin'. I realised that if you know someone enough you can tell how they're feelin' just by lookin' at them. I realised I could read you. I could read Viola Eade." And Todd dropped onto one knee. "Viola." He said, looking up at her, her hands clamped over her mouth in surprise. Todd's heart raced faster than a horse at full pelt, noise zooming out of him and all over the pace just VIOLAVIOLAVIOLA VIOLA. "Will you- Will you marry me?" and the millisecond gap felt like a millennia before Viola jumped onto him, knocking him back with her arms round his neck "So is that a yes?"
"Yes! Yes, Todd Hewitt I will marry you!" Viola cried, tears of joy splashing onto Todd's cheek as on top of the waterfall day turned into night as the sun sank slowly below the horizon.
