Another oneshot. This time, I get to kill off Max. Again, a twist. So.. on with the fic.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Max, Fang, or any of the other characters mentioned in this story, I plan to when I rule the world.

Enemy.

(Voices POV I know, cool isn't it?)

Put the gun down, Max.

She trembled, pathetic, and pushed it against her brow.

Maximum! You have to save the world… this is childish.

I waited for her usual angry remark, preparing myself for my own.

Nothing came.

Maximum?

She wasn't crying, she wasn't even shaking anymore, she had just dropped to the ground.

Get up Max, they're coming, get up!

"What do I care?"

I sighed, she was hopeless, didn't she realize it was for her own good?

You have to save the world Max. You have to move, you have to get past this, now get up.

She stayed, crumpled, on the ground.

Dammit! Max! Up, up, up!

She wasn't listening.

They'll kill you if you don't start moving right now. Don't you get it? Come on Max, the world awaits.

Stubborn as always, and even more broken, she stayed firmly in place.

Please. If not for the world, for me?

This got her attention.

"For you?" she whispered, looking up, as if I, or someone else perhaps, would be there.

Yes, for me.

She wobbled a bit when she finally stood up, she hadn't been eating enough.

How much have you eaten today?

She wouldn't respond.

Never mind, now start flying, Maximum.

She unfurled her wings a bit.

Good. Good. Now jump.

"I don't think I can."

No.

This wasn't happening. Maximum Ride was not going to end like this. She wasn't supposed to end like this.

Then, for the love of God, run!

"I don't think I can do that either."

Then why'd you get up?

I was panicking, they were moving fast, she obliviously couldn't fight all of them, not in the condition… think.

OK, Max, try to make a deal with them… what do you have to offer?

"Nothing they can't already take."

I shuddered.

They were here.

Worse then Erasers, worse then anything out there.

The one with dark, well, everything immerged from the shrubbery first.

His eyes, almost loving, stared at Max.

Then the other four appeared, nothing caring or sweet or innocent left in them, they were the enemy now.

Fight till the death.

I whispered.

But Max just stood their, soaking in the last moments with her Flock, before the dark one spoke.

"Are you ready to die, Max?"

He sounded so calm, as if asking if she cared to go for a walk.

Max flinched, I could feel the pain pierce through her mind.

She finally seemed to get a hold of herself, straightening up, eyes narrowing, going into full killer mode.

"Give me your best shot."

End.

God, my heart's breaking, that was hard to write. R&R!
