Pain coursed through my body as I ran blindly through the moonlit dots had begun to danced across my eyes and clouded my vision. Trees blurred together as I sped past them in a hurried attempt to get away. I had to run, had to escape, turning back was not an option. All thoughts vanished from my mind as a sudden pain attacked my ankle. Shit. What a way to go, tripping on a measly tree root, and breaking an ankle along with any chance of getting to safety. Who am I kidding? There's no such thing as safety anymore,I gave that up when I joined the Resistance.
The Resistance had started when the Government's experimenting was revealed to the eyes of the public. Lets just say the people of France weren't too happy when they found out where their loved ones were really being brought to. You see, once President Adam Peu decided that anyone over the age of seventy was completely worthless, he shipped them off to experimental camps to do research. As soon as the news got out, people went crazy. Riots were thrown, protests were made, and the government didn't listen like usually. Now, if the government finds out you are part of anything they don't like, you're shipped off with with the others to another experimental camp.
"Got cha!" He shouted. " You didn't actually think you could get away from me did you little one?" I could see attacker now, he had fiery red hair and piercing blue eyes and a scar reaching from his cheekbone, down to his bottom lip. Jacob Wilson. I used to go to school with his son Nick Wilson up until the revolution had begun, after that you would have been luck if you could go to the store without being pulled over by a police officer. They say it's to ensure our "safety", but really it's because the more "rebels" they catch, the bigger the pay check.
I punched and kicked but nothing worked. His hands had wrapped around my neck and begun to squeeze violently. My lungs had started burning and my eyes watered, my mouth opened into a silent scream. My leg finally got a good catch of his stomach, and pushed. I gasped like a fish out of water as fresh air rushed into my lungs. Looking down at Jacob, I realized when I kicked him off, his head fell onto a rock splitting it open releasing a gush of blood onto the forest floor by my feet. Jacob, a man I once thought of as second father, just tried to kill me, or worse turn me in. But he was just murdered. And I did it.
