... The faint sound of a heartbeat raced through her mind.

Ariadne's eyes began to open. Unable to focus, she squinted to see the faint outline of some youkai.
... Thud thud...
"Are you even listening to me...?"
"She hasn't fully woken yet. It feels like the fairies messed up this time. Though I don't think Yukari will mind..."
"Maybe we should poke her!"
"No! That will just wake her up! YOU IDIOT!"
"What he just said... never mind, wait till we get back, I'm starving!"
『Crap... youkai! Goddamn dimwitted youkai!』 She thought to herself.
... Thud thud...
『Can I move? Do they have me tied up?』 She though again, struggling to move. 『Goddamnit! What else is new...』
... Thud thud...
"Hey look, there's the overpass!"
『How the hell did they even find me... did mother leave the door open again?』
... Thud thud...
"She looks Delicious."
"Yes, I can't wait to try out our new sauce."
"What about Yuuka? Won't she be here?"
"Who knows..."
『So she IS here! Ok, I know I can get out of this, but how? ... Think harder!』

"Wahhhh!" yells one of the Youkai as it tripped.
『Ouch, that freakin' hurt, but this might be my chance...』
"You idiot!"
"Come on now..."
『Finally an opportunity...』
She slid her hands down one side to her pocket to get her pocket knife and slid it into her hands.
"You always screw up!"
"No, you always put too much pressure on me!"
"Guys cut it out!"
『Almost there...』 she was so close she could taste it. With a final slice of the rope, she slowly got up and walked away.
"Oh come on, focus on what's important here... we are starving!" The bickering continued.
『It couldn't have been easier.』 She thought as she entered the forest nearby and ran off. 『Now to find Yuuka...』
The loud sound of the youkai screaming in the background in the back of her mind rang as she walked out into the forest.
