The Last Task- Chapter One.
In the city of Hantic, every year will have a special event, called "10 Tasks". The whole town will be present in the choosing ceremony. 8 people wil be chosen to the the event, with teams of 2. If any team fails to do one task, they will be eliminated and executed as punishment.
Jake, a normal person, who never was elected for the event, looked up in fear.
"Today..." He walked to a crowded place.
"Yo, Jake!" a person called.
"Oh, hey Kenny." he looked behind him. It was his best friend, Kenny Stride. "So-" Kenny was interrupted. It was the announcer for the events.
"Today, is VERY special. 8 people will be elected for 10 Tasks as usual."
"Let's start with... Calvin Stares, 17 years old, and Devin Sparks, 16 years old. Now, they will be team one." the announcer said. A shout and gunshot caught everyone's attention. the crowd stared at the bloody corpse, which looked like Calvin. Screams came, but was silenced at the announcer's "SILENCE!"
"Let me explain the gunshot. If ANYONE tries to run, will be executed on sight. The elderly, kids, teens, or adults." He smirked.
"Now for the replacement, Levi Sparrow, 16 years old."
Levi looked down, clenching his hands, in the the crowd.
"Group 2. Jenny Kane, 15 years old, and Jake Daze, 15 years old."
"Wait, Jake Daze? ME?" Jake's head shot up. Kenny grabbed Jake's shoulder.
"No... No...!" Kenny was in agony.
"Don't die on me..."
"I won't... I promise. Not like my parents." Jake brushed off Kenny's hands softly.
"You better keep that promise..." Kenny whispered and walked near a tree.
"I hope I survive..." Jake stared at his feet.
"Group 3. Felix Kares, 16 years old, and Mimi Elric, age 17."
"And, lastly, Group 4. Ian Ryze, age 18, and Jane Ens, age 16."
"Remember this day, that your name was called. Because tomorrow, come here at 4 A.M Sharp, for details on the first Task. If you don't come for this event, you will be hunted down and someone will replace you." The announcer takes his mic and walks away.
"Guess I have to sleep early." Jake sighed and walked out.
Now the story of his parents? Well, here ya' go.
Luke and Lisa Daze were selected on the 18th event (2 years ago). on the 9th Task, they rushed for the finish point. But the other surviving team, decided to "cheat" and killed both Lisa and Luke. They got away with it, but got executed as punishment for killing a family of poor people. After the winning team won, the prize was a room full of gold, so they bragged about their money, richness, and so called "nobleness". The poor family got killed, because they said the truth. "You survived because the killed the other team!" and "All you wanted was wealth and fame!"
Rachel and Manuel (the winning team) killed that family because they needed to stay on the good citizen list, so they killed them, but a witness quickly called the guards. The witness was, Jake himself.
