Too many shadows

Authors notes

Well here is my first one-shot everyone! My computer crashed destroying my first story from before, so I have decided for now to just work on fairly short one-shots till a story that really sticks in my head comes to pass.

I might even expand these to two or three shot stories if I suddenly feel they can be expanded.

Anyway please R&R after our featured Fanfic!

Sakura Haruno ran faster than she ever had before, near enough flying towards a place of bad memories and faded ideals...The valley of the end.

The recently recovered Tsunade had informed her of what had happened, Sasuke had arrived with his new "team" with the motive to destroy Konoha, Naruto had quickly intercepted him, both then deciding to finish this battle where it had started.

The trees sped past her vision, her sensei would have scolded her for that, saying "enemies could always have been lying in wait past each branch" before giving her one of those superhuman flicks. But right now she didn't care, she was too worried about what she would arrive to.

Soon she could see the two statues that symbolized the valley in the distance, her mind desperatly tried to make her feet go quicker, her legs move faster. Fear and dread running rampant in her mind, for some reason the picture of team 7 appeared in her mind followed by memories at the academy, oh how naive she was in those easy-going days gone by...

Sakura began to get worried on what she would see, would they kill each other? Would... Sakura's mind stopped the next thought in it's tracks. Naruto wouldn't let the Kyuubi out, for some reason her mind had an undying faith about that...

Suddenly coming back to her senses she stopped, looking in amazement as her eyes were filled with the sight of blonde hair, but she soon sprinted onwards.

Oh how she hated shadow clones...

hundreds upon thousands lined the tree tops and more stood on the grass below, all standing like their strings had been cut.
She finally understood the reason why they were called shadow clones, not for their physical presence, but the lack of a spiritual one, none of them reminded her of the warm days full of laughter at Ichiraku, none made a smile that brightened her day no matter what happened to her, none asked for dates with goofy faces and silly grins...

None held that warmth in their heart.

She smashed and bashed her way through all of them, unforgiving as they disappeared in a puff of smoke, each one just another annoyance, a pest, an irrelevant speck.

But when she finally arrived at the valley she saw something she never wanted to see.

Naruto sat over the body of Sasuke, her medical senses and his current decent in chakra told her the man had obviously been dead for about ten minutes. But that was irrelevant to her...

The true horror in her eyes, was Naruto.

His eyes look glassed and empty, looking more like one of his god-forsaken clones than any he had summoned. She ran towards him faster than she though physically possible, but still a lifetime.
"Sakura...I'm..."
His mouth closed quickly as she landed into him, falling backwards to lay against the floor as she held onto him tightly, eyes beginning to shine with tears.

But when she felt his hands wrap around her back and pull her closer, she felt that no matter what happened now...

They'd be alright...
