"I don't think we should be doing this…" Mary Macdonald said as she followed Lily Evans into the Slytherin common room, "What if we get caught?"
"We won't. Everyone's down at the Quidditch pitch." Lily replied.
"How'd you get the password anyway?"
"Sev… Snape told me the other week." Lily growled, bounding up the stairs to the boys dormitories.
They entered the door marked 'Fifth Years' and Lily marched over to the last bed though Mary stayed behind.
"How do we know which one's his?" Mary asked.
"It's this one." Lily replied, opening the trunk at the bottom of the bed.
"How do you know?"
Lily shot her best friend a sharp glance, "I just do."
Lily began pulling out books, robes, clothes, quills and everything else that littered the bottom of the deep trunk.
"Hey, Lily, isn't this yours?" Mary asked, holding up a Gryffindor tie.
"No." Lily said, but grabbed the tie anyway.
"But it has your initials on it."
"I said it's not mine, Mary." Lily replied, though she stuffed the tie into her pocket.
Lily continued sorting through his things, putting things inside her robes every once in a while until she reached the bottom of the trunk.
"Alright, now help me throw this stuff back in. Make sure it's as messy and unruly as you can manage." Lily said, grabbing an armful of Severus' possessions and dumping them back into the wooden trunk.
Mary joined her, tossing things messily into the trunk until it was full again.
"Aguamenti." Lily said, holding her wand over the open trunk.
It slowly filled with water and soaked the contents, causing them to take up less space.
"Okay," Lily said once the water reached an inch from the top, "As soon as I say this spell, close the lid as fast as you can."
Mary nodded and stood over the lid, ready.
"Avis!"
The lid slammed shut and the sound of chirping birds could be heard from inside.
"Colloportus."
Lily carefully carved a message into the wood: Just a gift from your favorite mudblood.
Lily stood up and admired her handiwork, then motioned towards the door, "Let's go before the game ends."
Mary followed her in silence and finally gathered up the courage to ask, "What was the point of that?"
Lily smiled as they rounded the corner, "I just needed some closure."
This is terribly short and I apologize. Just a plot bunny that was nibbling away at my brain. I plan on rewriting it soon, but I figured I'd post it since I'm about to leave for a week or so... Anyway, it was just a random little oneshot, I thought it was cute and I hope you did too :) Reviews are love and I love it when people read my other Lily/Snape fics.
