Chapter 2
Logan's POV:
As I walked to the entrance, I could see a totem pole on each side of the dirt road, each one with different animals. There was a banner which was held by the totem poles that said "Welcome to Camp Wonkey Donkey". As I passed by the main office, I saw people running towards me. Next thing I knew, I was being received with hugs and welcomes.
They all seem like really nice people.
After the commotion had died down, a man stepped out of the crowd and came up to me and said,
"Welcome to Camp Wonkey Donkey Logan."
He shook my hand. "My name is Scott, and I am the Head Camp Leader."
I answered back shyly and said, "Thank you and nice to meet you."
"Let us show you to your cabin."
And with that, he called two guys over. They came up and stood right beside him, one on each side.
"These are two of our counselors," he said, "They will show you around so you can become familiar with the place."
He smiled and ushered the two guys towards me. One of them stepped forward and said, "Hi, I'm Carlos and this is James." They both shook my hands. "Nice to meet you!" "Here, let me help you with those!" James said while he reached for my luggage.
I handed them to him. "What do you have in here, rocks?" I felt a little embarrassed to be honest. He looked back at me and shot a smile at me.
Then he said, "I'm just kidding man! " He laughs.
We started walking and Carlos walked right next to me. "Don't listen to him, he's just too excited."
Carlos and James walked ahead of me, but I don't mind. I was too busy looking at my surroundings. I was thinking about back home, when I was interrupted in my thoughts, and brought back to reality.
"Wait, what?" I was confused. I didn't know what was going on. James pointed at a cabin and said,
"I said, we're here."
Carlos ran to the door, opened it and led us inside. James set my luggage down and asked,
"Which one did Scott say Logan was?"
"I think he said he was the first bed there," James says, pointing at one of the beds.
Carlos walked toward the beds. "Ok, so here is your bed. Oh, and if you're wondering why there's only two beds it's because there are two counselors per cabin this year. There was more funding this year, so Scott built more cabins. And now we have more space," he says with a smile. "Umm, your roommate is probably in the main hall right now, but I'm sure you'll meet him later."
"And since your cabin is the only one near the lake, don't worry about any noises. This cabin is actually the furthest from the others. I hope it's okay?
I look out the window and see the lake, glistening in the sun.
"Yeah, It's fine. Perfect actually."
I pick up my luggage and walk over to Carlos who was standing in front of the bed. When I placed my luggage on my bed, Carlos said, "We're going to leave you alone so you can put your stuff away, is that ok?"
"Yeah, sure. Thanks guys."
They both walk out the door, but James comes back and says, "We'll be out here if you need us."
Then he closed the door. I was left alone in the cabin. I realized how big it was. It had big windows, the walls were painted brown and there were green curtains covering the windows. The ceiling was in a v-shaped form which made the cabin seem very tall. The whole cabin was very neat and organized overall. There are only two beds in the whole room. The beds are on the left of the room when you enter. On the far right side, there is a medium-sized bathroom. There is a giant mirror right outside the bathroom with drawers underneath it. In front of the beds, there is a closet big enough for me to sleep in.
I think I can get used to this. Right?
