"Remember, remember, the fifth of November, gun powder, treason and plot."

"What'd you say Danny Boy?" Jack O'Neill asked wrapping his big coat further around himself and watching his breath in the cold night air.

"Oh, nothing," the younger man backtracked not realising he'd said the old rhyme aloud.

"What about the fifth of November?"

"This just reminds me of an old British tradition," he gestured to the roaring fire in the middle of Jack's back yard. "Guy Fawkes, or bonfire night."

"What no history lesson?" Jack joked at Daniel's brief explanation while throwing another broken wooden crate on the fire.

"Didn't think you'd be interested."

"Gun powder, treason and plot; sounds like I might enjoy this history lesson," he walked to his deck to grab two bottles of beer while whispering under his breath, "for once."

"Well basically, in 1605 a group of men including Guy Fawkes plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill the King of the time. They planted a lot of gunpowder in the basement and just before they could light the fuse Guy was caught, he was burned alive for treason," he finished accepting his beer from Jack.

"So, what the Brits celebrate this guys death? No pun intended."

"Yeah, they have big firework displays and bonfires with stuffed Guys on top, eat toffee apples and play with sparklers," he grinned. "It's something to see, in a valley looking across the hills surrounding you with so many different fireworks going off at the same time."

"When were you in England?"

"Wales actually, not long before the Stargate programme recruited me I was on a Celtic dig for a while. The locals took me to a pub there; it was right on the end of a beach and had a brilliant view of the whole bay and the hills behind it. I've never seen anything like it in my life, all the different colours and sounds."

"So, fifth of November, that's next week," Jack mused. "I wonder if Hammond will let us fly to Britain, better yet we could get Thor to beam us there, I bet he'd love fireworks."

"Hey Sam," Daniel called. "Jack's having another hair-brained idea, help me!"

"I do not think it would be wise for you to assist Daniel Jackson, Major Carter," Teal'c said loudly from the other side of the bonfire so they could hear. "I believe O'Neill is contagious."

"That hurt T man," Jack said scowling at his 2IC who was clinging onto Daniel while she tried to contain her giggling. "What did I say about giggling Major?"

Yeah, sorry it's a bit late but better late than never. And remember kids, fireworks are dangerous, keep them away from adults, babies and anyone else who may harm themselves, others and the grass in your garden…why is it always the grass! Oh, and Catherine Wheels are evil!
