The Loric gentlemen looks out the front window of their house in Paradise, and sighs. It is not a happy sigh, but it's not sad one either.

John, or Number Four, depending who you ask, is in their overgrown frontyard, levitating random things as he waits for Sarah Hart to arrive. This thought induces another sigh of mixed emotion. Sarah is nice girl, and Four loves her, but he does not understand what it is like to love another of the Loric people. Their love is different, but Four won't know that. Not now. And he doesn't need to. When he finds the other six, then it will be clear. He will find it, or he won't.

It's these thoughts that urge Henri to take out the legal pad, and ballpoint pen. Sitting at the dining room table, he begins to right, knowing he must write this letter. Everytime it hurts. But Henri knows he won't be around very long. He knows he'll never see Lorien again. But he has his memories-the glory of Lorien, Julianne, his whole life as Brandon- and that's all he needs.

He signs the letter.

With Love,

Your Friend and Cepan,

-H

He thinks of one of the six left-the prodigy of Four's parent's best friend's. Maybe she, whoever she is, will show Four what Loric love feels like. Henri'll admit it-he's a romantic-but there is something different on Lorien. He would know.

He looks up from folding the paper carefully into thirds to see Four and Sarah waving to him. He waves back with a sad smile, wishing he could tell Four how proud he is of him, even after Henri is gone. He knows the boy he think of as his son will be amazing. If there's anyone who can win this interspecies war, it's Four and the other five still alive.

Four and Sarah walk out the front gate arm and arm, leaving Henri to his thoughts. He is at peace with whatever may become of him, as long as Four lives to fight another day. These years have been well spent, despite what caused them to be like this. He wouldn't have missed a second of his time with Four, watching him grow up into a man who will revive his planet.

Henri smiles off into the distance, thinking of Julianne and home.
