Hi hi! This one might be a one off, but I have some ideas that might make for a good story, at least, they do in my head. But, to any effect, I hope you like this one. I'm taking a little deviant path from the more mature aspects of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls respective universes, and heading towards more of a softer universe, in Spyro, the original trilogy timeline. Please don't forget to review, as it helps me write better, and if you like it, how about lightly smashing the follow and fav buttons? I'd really appreciate it! That ends my rant. Hope y'all like it!
Sparks flew as the Professor worked on a completely new project with the help of Agent 9, and surprisingly, Bentley. They had intended on making another super portal and having Bentley around meant that the heavy lifting didn't make the project take three times as long. The project was another colossal undertaking, even by the Professor's standards, having already created a working super portal.
"Agent 9, could you hand me the compass please? I'm almost done my calculations. Once these are done, all we need to do is have it built, and then we can enter an alternate reality!"
"Sure thing, Prof! Say, why are you building this portal anyways? You trying to replace me? Huh? You know that only because I've defeated hundreds of those Rhynocs, it doesn't make me obsolete? If you try to replace me, ooooh I'd blast the alternate me so fast that he wouldn't even see it coming!" Agent 9's sporadic behavior wasn't unusual, but ever since the Sorceress had been defeated six years ago, he'd calmed down a bit. Even Bentley toned down his expansive vocabulary, so he wouldn't have to repeat himself to others who couldn't understand him the first time he said something.
"Calm down, Nigel. The Professor wouldn't endeavor to replace you. You're our one of a kind, spastic, laser-blasting simian." Bentley tried his best to calm Agent 9, or as he goes by with the old crew, Nigel. But it didn't work as well as he'd hoped, as Bentley's accidental use of his expansive vocabulary tended to trigger Agent 9's more aggressive reactions.
Agent 9 jumped on the load Bentley was carrying and matched him eye-to-eye, ready to unleash his anger unto the Yeti. But seconds before Agent 9 let the anger flood gates open, the super portal exploded, sending the three of them flying across the lab. Bentley got up first and quickly moved to where the Professor landed and helped him up. Although the Professor might've been the smartest being in Avalar, he happened to be quite frail, being a mole. "You alright, Professor? That looked like it could've seriously injured one such as yourself." Bentley inquired.
"I'm fine, thank you, Bentley. I think though, that we would need the help of the Colossus monks, if we are to build this new type of super portal, or 'Mega Portal,' should be more appropriate." The Professor sighed as he dusted himself off and picked up his dented glasses off the floor. Being an academic usually meant that there would be more failures than successes, but this one sting for a reason only known to the Professor. Agent 9 collected himself and ran over to the Professor and placed his hand in his shoulder. "Don't worry, boss. Bentley and I will be right back with the monks. It will be less than a day! Tops!"
"Thank you, Agent 9. Bentley. I'll re-run the equations, and hopefully by the time you two get back, I'll have some of the progress done again." Bentley picked up Agent 9 and placed him on his head, where he could hold on to his horns, and set out to Colossus, as the Professor solemnly worked on his failed project. "I'll find a way to get back to you, my dear. I promised."
Stonehill has been a world of peace for six years and counting, thanks to the actions of the revered Spyro. After he travelled to the Forgotten Realms to defeat the nefarious Sorceress, and her plight to capture all the newly delivered dragon eggs. For the first five years after the Sorceress' defeat, Spyro trained among all the Dragon Realms homeworlds, learning new abilities from each one. How to properly disarm enemies and take down ones bigger than him from the Peace Keepers; how to properly make food and live life purely from the Artisans; the ways in which Dragons and their ilk mold and weave magic in the Magic Crafters homeworld; how some dragons can live in complete seclusion from the others in the Dream Weavers homeworld, and lastly, how dragons are responsible for the creation of new beings every few years in the Beast Makers homeworld. Being an arrogant youth, during those five years Spyro thought he could have each world done in no time at all, even though in reality it took a full year for the elders of each world to teach him everything they could about each homeworld.
Spyro being now twenty years of age, he had grown into a young adult dragon, not yet the same size as his elders in Artisans, but still the formidable dragon he was during his adventures across the realms. Sparx still trailed around with his dragon, not because he had to. But because he wanted to. Most dragonflies left their adolescent dragons around the age of sixteen, but for an unknown reason, Sparx and Spyro were inseparable. Sparx too went with Spyro to each dragon homeworld, although he had different lessons to be learned, those of which he shared with Spyro. Spyro has always thought of Sparx as his brother, and vice-versa, although them being two completely different species, that didn't do anything to devalue their bond. Sparx had also matured greatly with his age, now being able to speak in full sentences that are able to be understood by not only dragons, but other species as well.
Spyro had just caught wind that the Breezebuilders of Breeze Harbor were on the brink of an all-out war with the Land Blubbers of Zephyr again, so he and Sparx set out for the portal to Avalar that was created with the help of the Professor and the Magic Crafters dragons.
"So, Spyro. You excited to head back to Avalar? I think you are, even though you're letting on less than you really are." Sparx teased as they flew to the portal.
"Alright, if I'm to be honest, going back to Avalar to resolve some peace issues is second priority." Living in the Artisans homeworld also helped Spyro advance his vocabulary to become more well-spoken, and less arrogant.
"You excited to see her again? It's been a few years wince we saw her, or Hunter and Bianca. Do you think that they're keeping things well in Avalar?"
"I sure hope so, buddy. I hope that taking on the position of Regent Peacekeeper of Avalar wasn't too much of a burden. I hated seeing her stress too much. She was always so energetic about everything, from her love of her home, to not wanting to see it torn apart by Ripto and his stupid minions. I'd absolute hate to see her change in any way other than positive." Spyro reminisced about his first time entering Avalar on accident, having his portal signature abducted by the Professor's portal in Glimmer.
"You nervous to see her again? It has been five years since you last went and visited Avalar, let alone her."
"I don't really know yet. I hope that these past years haven't put a strain on our friendship."
The two arrived at the portal to Avalar's Summer Forest. Spyro hesitated for a moment, then made his way through the portal, with Sparx trailing beside him. When they exited into the Forest, they noticed that the flora has grown significantly. The trees were grown to be bigger than the castle dome, the grass is cut short, keeping appearances, and the portals to each of the worlds had vines draped around them. Spyro thought it weird that the grass and only the grass was kept in check, but he didn't think on it further. He was there for important business, and he intended to finish it as soon as he could.
They found their way to the portal stone to Autumn Plains, the homeworld that lead to Zephyr. The two hopped on and in a few seconds of magical transport, found themselves plopped on to the ground of the always radiant Autumn Plains. The trees here glowed a beautiful gold, yellow and orange, the grass here too, was still well kempt, and the vines around the portals in this homeworld seemed to be thicker. Spyro and his buggy brother flew over to the Zephyr portal and waded through the magical barrier, only to fin that Zephyr had not looked like a war had been waged since Spyro last visited.
Sparx flew high above the ground, looking for any signs of battle, but he found no trace. "Alright, what gives?"
Spyro followed Sparx up above the ground, hovering with him. "I don't know. Maybe if we find Colonel Blub. He'd know what's going on." The pair flew over to the Land Blubber's base of operations, locating Blub inside the base.
"Alright, what's the situation down…" Spyro trailed off as he walked into the base. Sitting across Colonel Blub, was Squawk, the de facto leader of the Breezebuilders. Spyro sits down, visibly annoyed. "Okay, this has to be a joke, no?"
Squawk looks over to Spyro, and greets him accordingly, while Colonel Blub remains focused on the game the two are locked into. The bird returns his attention to the game and says to Spyro: "I don't know why you're here, Spyro. The Land Blubbers and Breezebuilders signed the permanent armistice, remember? The one both you and Elora helped us create? There hasn't been a spark of war ever since. Except for this damn cheater! For some reason, I can't seem to hit any of his ships."
Sparx quickly interjected, asking if by chance they knew where Elora might be. To Spyro's surprise, she was also here earlier with the fake news of a war. She too found Squawk and Blub locked in this same game, and then headed off to Fracture Hills. Spyro and Sparx thanked them and headed to Fracture Hills in search of their old friend.
"Alright, Blub. This has been going on long enough. Uh, let's go with A-2…?"
Blub laughed a billowing laugh. "Nice try, bird-brain. Miss."
"DAMN YOU, BLUB! I give up! Now show me what configuration your ships are in." The Colonel turned his board around and showed that all his ships were stacked on one another. "OH, BY THE WINDS! I KNEW IT! Oh well. I should probably show you mine, then."
Squawk turned his board to show that he had done the exact same thing. Blub laughed and exclaimed that he knew there was a reason he liked the Breezebuilder.
"Oh boy, Fracture Hills. Haven't been there since the time Ripto helped the Earthshapers. Why do you think Elora's headed there, Spyro?" Sparx asked, genuinely curious.
"I guess we'll find out." They had already gone through the portal and were flying towards the big temple that had once been encased in stone. The two were hovering a few hundred meters away, trying to spot their Faun friend from a distance, and they did. Elora was in the temple, accompanied by a strange satyr with orange fur. Spyro cocked his head, confused as to why Elora would be hanging out with the trouble making satyrs.
"I didn't think satyrs could have orange fur, eh Spyro?"
"Yeah, I thought they were exclusively brown haired." Little did they know; the satyr was helping Elora learn of her heritage of being a Faun. The satyr handed Elora an odd-looking purple drink, which she drank. He then noticed Spyro hovering in the distance, pointing him out to Elora, who almost immediately recognized Spyro and waved for him to fly down and join her.
Sparx eagerly flew down first, quite excited to see Elora again, and landed straight on her head. His landing position elicited a laugh from both Spyro and Elora, as the big dragonfly was visibly overjoyed.
Spyro looked at Elora, and noticed that she too, has grown into her age. Instead of just the two-leaf dress she wore when they first met, she wore a full suit made of leaves, undoubtedly made by her. He thought the look suited her, as her role as Regent Peacekeeper apparently required one to look dapper. His mind went back to their last meeting in Autumn Plains, where he helped her with the Zephyr-Breeze Harbor Armistice. Strangely though, his most fond memory of his time was when they watched Sergeant Byrd's fireworks show, where they sat and enjoyed each other's company in silence, not knowing that that would be the second last time they'd see the other for a long, long time.
"Hi, Elora. Long time no see." Spyro was trying to hide his nervous stature, but couldn't as Elora knew him too well.
"Hello Spyro. You and Sparx are both an extremely pleasant surprise. What are you two doing here? And why are you so nervous?" Sparx flew off Elora's head and landed on one of Spyro's horns, ready to answer her question.
"We heard word of a war about to break out in Zephyr again, so we headed out there to check it out, only to find that anything but war was happening there. Spyro was not pleased, I personally thought it was hilarious, to find the Breezebuilders and the Land Blubbers just playing board games." Elora could barely keep her composure, as the last time they saw each other, Sparx could only make buzzing noises that only Spyro could understand.
"Since when could Sparx talk like that? Like us?" Elora asked, completely bewildered.
"Sparx learned how to fully talk when we turned sixteen. I was equally as shocked, but I immediately knew that this could be very helpful, when the time came. Almost everyone, well except Bianca, was shocked. She just went along as if it wasn't a new development." Elora noticed that while Spyro has grown to be a little taller than her, his voice has gone a bit deeper, complementing his new bulkier look. She couldn't help but admire his build, being and Artisan dragon, Spyro had yet to grow into only standing and walking on his hind legs.
"Elora, what are you staring at? It's like when we first met in Glimmer. You're starting to make me uncomfortable."
"Oh, sorry, Spyro. You've just grown a lot more than I would've honestly expected in the last five years. You look really good, for what now, 20?" Elora couldn't help herself in staring at Spyro's new physique. She was entranced by his muscles but snapped back into reality when Sparx flew directly in front of her eyes.
"Hey, here's an idea! How about we catch up somewhere nicer? Like maybe Idol Springs, or maybe even Mystic Marsh?" Sparx suggested after breaking the thick tension between the two.
Spyro answered first: "Or maybe Shady Oasis? I've been wanting to go back there for a really long time, and maybe try one of their strange berries."
"The berries are actually quite delicious, but the only have the growth effects on the hippos, sadly. I've always wanted to be a bit taller," Elora added.
Spyro sarcastically recoiled, taken away by Elora's comment. "What do you mean? You've always been taller than me! Oh well. Shady Oasis it is!" Elora hopped in Spyro's back, and the three of them flew to the portal back to Autumn Plains. Spyro landed at the foot of the portal, and looked back on Fracture Hills, noticing the strange orange-fur satyr watching them with a creepy smile spread across his lips. "Say, Elora, what were you doing here in Fracture Hills anyways?"
"I'll tell you all about it when we get to Shady Oasis. Deal?" Spyro grunted in agreement, as he thought he saw the satyr's eyes flicker in color, from green to black, and back to green. "What are you waiting for, Spyro? You look like you saw something bad just happen."
Spyro focused, and said that everything was fine, even though he was concerned about the satyr he saw. They headed through the portal and made their way to the miniature castle that held the portal to the Oasis. As they were crossing the bridge, Elora started to sway on Spyro's back, almost falling off twice, before letting out: "Spyro, I don't feel so good…"
"Elora what's –" Spyro cut himself off as Elora fell off his back and off the bridge, plummeting down into the abyss that surrounded the Plains. Spyro didn't hesitate, as he immediately dove after her, with Sparx in tow. Elora opened her eyes to see Spyro and Sparx both diving after her, as she squeaked out a final: "Spyro…"
Spyro tapped into the training of the Peace Keepers, allowing him to dive faster, but he feared that it wouldn't be enough. His heart raced as he thought that he wouldn't be able to catch up.
"ELORA!"
Hey thanks for reading it this far! I'm not too sure on what to think specifically about this, as I have a plot thought out, but I don't know if I want to carry it out. Please let me know if you would like me to continue with this one.
