Sherlock shoved open the door and strode to the far side of the room.
"I've re-analysed everything. My observations and conclusions were entirely accurate."
As usual, no response.
"You can't keep this up forever."
No response.
"Enough!" Sherlock grabbed a vase from the window ledge and threw it against the wall. "Fine! You were right! Dammit, John—"
"Is everything OK?"
Sherlock faced the nurse, immediately composed. "Yes, of course." With a pointed look, she left.
The steady whoosh of the ventilator stole the fight; Sherlock sank wearily into his customary chair, fingers steepled against his lips, willing John to wake.
