Rain Down
The water fell in tiny circular droplets. They fell to the ground with such grace, and Ryoko was envious. Who wouldn't be? The rain was beautiful, but only in its simplicity. She read the watery epitaph marking the carved stone before her, and the rain on her face suddenly became salty. Her blurry vision also read the inscriptions on the other tombstones in the miniature graveyard where she stood. Her eyebrows came together as her lips became a straight but quivering line. Finally she collapsed in front of the barrage of messages reminding her of her mistake, her selfishness.
'I never should have left. . .why did I?' depressing memories and thoughts drifted through the former pirate's head as she silently sobbed. 'And why do I get to live so long?' her tears were overwhelming, so she sat near the grave marker which saddened her most. "Why?" Ryoko was devastated. It just wouldn't sink in. It couldn't be. How? There was no way. She read the words aloud, her eyes stinging.
A neverending carnival
Has now ended here
Please come back
I hold you so dear. . .
Ryoko, my love
Come back to me
Why did you leave?
Oh how can this be?
One shining tear
That I've saved for you
I love you forever
No matter what you do. . .
-Tenchi Masaki 2002-2112
Speechless in her tears, she fought for breath. Tenchi had loved her. And she had left him here, alone. Now, she was kneeling in front of his tombstone. And Washu's, and Sasami's, and Ayeka's, and Mihoshi's. They were all together. They had left her, alone. As she had them so long ago. She cried for what seemed like eternity, for lack of better terminology. Basking in sorrow, letting her mind wander. She deserved this. For leaving, for everything. Yet, she couldn't believe how God could have been so cruel to her, No matter what she had done, no one deserved anything like this. She just stared in disbelief, even though she knew she wasn't dreaming. Never had she thought. . .ever. . .
"Rain down rain down. . .oh rain down on me . . ."
