a/n: this is probably not going to get many reviews or be read much since it's not damen/ever but whatever. Roman is the only reason I continued to read this series after the second book anyway. (Seriously, it was good in the first book, alright in the second, but seriously? How long can the author possibly drag out the "I can't touch my boyfriend!" storyline? Major suckage). And anyway, SCREW THIS SERIES ROMAN DIED! WTF? I HATE JUDE! Please, please review this even if you don't like Roman or if my authors note offended you (hehe). I want feedback. GIVE ROMAN SOME LOVE PEOPLE.

Disclaimer: I do not own The Immortals Series or any of its characters because if I did it would have nothing to do with Damen or Ever or Haven or Jude (Jude? Who's Jude?). It would be all about Roman and Miles and they would probably be shirtless 99% of the time (well, Roman would. Miles would be singing Queen 99% of the time).

If anyone were to ask him if he remembers his childhood he would say no. No, he barely remembers his life before drinking the immortal juice, no he just doesn't remember being human. And they would probably believe him too. A guy like Roman? There wasn't anything human about him.

But what little any of them knew was that Roman remembered his childhood all too well, more than he would like. Sometimes he would secretly bury himself in his room and think about his father. The way his father used to take a big swig out of his beer and give Roman a dirty look. "You're a disgrace," he would yell at him before thrusting a punch into his eye. "A big, bloody disgrace." Or how he watched his father die with the sweet, content smile on his face as if dying was greater disire than having to deal with poor little Roman.

He didn't want anyone to know about his past because if they did, they would see weakness in him. They would know that once upon a time, Roman feared someone so much that he would always cower in his room and tremble when his father would walk in drunken with rage.

Roman knows that some things in life are just meant to be kept secret like the irremovable scares that Roman posses on the inside.

If anyone knew that there was a part of Roman that was scarred beyond repair they would pity him. Bloody pity him. Not only that, but they would also pretend to understand him and they would try to repair him.

There is nothing anyone could do to repair Roman, there never has been.

Here was the fact: Roman was glad he was no longer human because when he was human he was beaten, hated, and taken advantage of. Now he had the power and he was the one who got to control anyone he wanted.

"Do you remember the day you drank the elixir?"

Roman remembered the day Damen asked him that as his friend a long while back. He remembers his flat, "No," in response and the way Damen gave him a pitiful look but never asked him that again.

But of course Roman remembered, Roman remembers everything. He remembers the way he stood in the cold streets in fear of death and the way he looked up at Damen in hope and the way he saw Damen as a hero. He remembers how he felt his heart drop a thousand miles when Damen didn't seem to notice him.

And he remembers meeting her.

"Damen, this boy here, please give him the last drop," Her sweet voice urged.

And he remembers how that was the day that someone showed a sign of love for him. It was a day he tried the hardest to forget.

So here we have Roman present day, immortal, powerful, and secretly broken, spending his days pushing forward as if there were nothing wrong.

Don't forget to review :)
