Disclaimer: Don't own 'em and never will, unless I have anything to say
about it.
A/N: This isn't my first CSI fic, but it is the first I've completed. It's just a short idea I came up with after I saw the end of Cross- Jurisdictions. It doesn't have much of a story and is not meant to be continued.
Roses By RaajmdTMP
"Hey, Catherine!" Warrick called from the doorway of the break room.
"Yeah, Warrick?" Catherine replied, looking up.
"These just came for you," he said handing her a vase filled with roses.
"Thanks," she said, inhaling their sweet scent. She looked up to see him staring at her. "What?"
"Aren't you going to see who they're from?"
"I know who they're from."
"Well, do you feel like sharing?"
"No," she said, matter-of-factly. "Don't you have work to do?"
Warrick took the hint and left. He passed Nick and Sara in the hallway. They were headed to the break room to get their assignments for the day, or night as the case may be. When they entered, Catherine was getting a bottle of water from the mini fridge.
"Oh, roses! Whose are they?" Sara asked as she grabbed the card from the flowers.
"They're mine," Catherine answered as she snatched the card back from Sara and put it in her pocket.
"Catherine's got an admirer. Who's the lucky guy?" Nick asked, teasing.
"Last time I checked, that was none of your business," she snapped.
"Sorry, Cath. I didn't mean to intrude," Nick said with his hands raised in mock defense.
"Yes you did."
"She's got a point there, Nicky," Grissom said from the doorway. "Nice flowers," he commented as he made his way over to the couch. "Okay, let's get back to work, guys. Nicky and Cath." he trailed off. Nick and Sara were looking at him. "What?"
"Aren't you the least bit curious?"
"Curious?"
"About who sent the flowers."
"No."
"Oh, come on."
"Look, I don't see what the big deal is. It's none of my business who my coworkers receive gifts from."
"Thank you," Catherine said. Grissom had the last word over her unwanted attention.
"Okay, as I was saying, Nicky and Catherine."
The Locker Room After Shift
Catherine walked into the locker room at the end of her shift to gather her things. She found Grissom organizing his locker. He threw a piece of junk over his shoulder into the trashcan and just missed Catherine's head.
"Hey, watch where you're throwing things, Buddy!" she said playfully.
His head shot up. "Sorry, Cath. I didn't hear you come in."
"Apparently. Um, about earlier..."
"Yeah, I never would have guessed they'd be so nosey."
"Our crew is really gossip starved, aren't they?"
"Yeah."
"You need a ride?"
"No, I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes," he said looking up from his work. He smiled a rare smile.
"See you later."
"Bye."
"Oh, and Gris?" she called from the door. "Thanks for the roses. They're beautiful."
"You're welcome."
