Chocolates

She's sitting by herself, and he decides to take a chance.
"Hi," he tries casually, but his hammering heart betrays him, and it comes out choked.
"Oh, hi," she says dreamily. "I've seen you about. Sit down, won't you?"
He tries not to make a fool of himself as he stumbles towards the dented metal chair.
Flailing at his attempts at conversation, he ends up saying, "Would you like some chocolate?"
He breaks off a jagged chunk and holds it out to her.
"That's so kind of you, wow," she gushes. Then, abruptly, "But I can't."
"That's all right," he replies, ears red, his embarrassment mixing with a peculiar sense of relief.
He shoves the chocolate in his mouth, tries to forget his ineptitude.
She looks at him, head cocked.
"You've got chocolate on your lips."
He allows a strangled whisper of, "Oh, bobbins," escape, and then she says serenely, "I'll get it."
She kisses him softly, and her tongue darts out for the chocolate, grazes his lower lip.
"Oh, wow," she smiles. "It's lovely."
"Yes, yes, it is, quite," he stammers, but it's not the chocolate.
