I hope the girl with the braid didn't see me. Don't get me wrong, I want to meet her. Just… not yet. I don't know. I have kind of a 'gift'. Maybe a little on the 'curse' side. I can do something most people can't. My dreams are significant. They mean something. Not like people telling you 'what your dream means'. I mean that my dream can kind of tell the future. A little. I don't know how, or why, but they do. It's happened, and I know it will happen in the future. And no, I didn't dream of it happening in the future, but I know my dreams will always be this way. Recently, I had a dream about some black-haired boy with… blue eyes? No, green. Sea green. But back to the point. I have had some terrifying dreams involving this 'Katniss' girl. I just don't know what to do. Wait, I think I hear something. Yep, although that girl is so impossibly quiet in the woods, she can't be silent.
"You!" she yells. Should I try to escape? I reason that out. She'd probably catch me. "Who are you?" she asks, studying me. With my paint-splattered jeans and red, frizzy hair, I look way out of place. That's because I don't belong here. I really come from a different-
"Well?!" I hadn't answered. "What's your name?"
"I'm Rachel," I say. "Rachel Elizabeth Dare." She looks at me, probably surprised that I spoke up.
"What are you doing here?" she asks, regaining her composure.
"I could ask you the same," I say, though I already know. She somehow seems to guess that I do, but holds back.
"What district are you from?" she asks instead.
"I… I live here," I say, which is technically true.
"In the woods?" she says suspiciously, gesturing around her. "How can you-" she stops suddenly, her eyes alert, listening intently. "I need to go," she says quickly. And with that, she darts under the 'electric' fence.
"So your name's Rachel?" I almost jump two feet in the air. It was that boy, coming out from behind a tree. What was his name? Gale.
