Lily stood, looking down at her sleeping son. A small smile transformed her face. "He's perfect, isn't he James?" She turned to look at her husband, who was standing right beside her.

James gave his wife a fond look before returning his gaze to the newborn. "Of course he is dear." He reached out a hand and ran it over the baby's soft, black, messy, hair, which was a mystery to the healers. "Poor little guy, looks like he inherited the Potter curse." He mumbled.

"I had hoped he'd he spared." Lily teased. "Now, I can only hope it'll tame itself as he grows older."

"Not going to happen, love." James said with a grin. "If anything his hair will grow more messy and untidy as he ages. Like I said, it's the Potter curse."

Lily rolled her eyes. "We'll see." She leaned over when the newest member of the Potter family began to fuss in his sleep. "Everything is alright, dear one." She cooed and rubbed his back. "Mommy's here."

James watched the interaction with satisfaction. "We should let Sirius see him soon before he sprains something trying to contain his enthusiasm. You'd think he was the new father the way he's been acting."

"Does he know that we choose him to be baby Potter's Godfather?" Lily asked once the baby stopped fussing and went back to sleep.

"Are you mad?" James looked at his wife like she lost her mind. "If he knew, he wouldn't be patiently waiting for us to give him permission. He'd be here with or without our consent." He said, fondly.

Lily chuckled and shook her head knowing that her husband was right. "Well then, before we let Godfather Black in to see the tyke, we'd better name our precious bundle of joy. Baby Potter was fine while it was just the three of us but people will want to know his name sooner or later. No more putting it off!" She shook a finger at her husband.

James snorted. "I wasn't the only one." He mumbled under his breath then gave her a charming smile. "Very well." He clapped his hands and moved around the cot containing his son. He looked at the boy from every angle trying to determine a name.

Standing silently, Lily left James do whatever he was doing. "Well?" She asked growing impatient with his silence. "Anything?" This was the hardest part of having a child; the naming. The name would be with him forever so it had to be perfect. And perfect was one thing Lily couldn't agree on with her husband. She had wanted to baby Rose Jasmine if it was a girl and Tobin David if it was a boy. The only name they ended up agreeing on was Rose and that was before they found out that the baby was a boy.

"I've got it!" James stood up, childish glee covering his face. "Harry James Potter!"

Lily raised an eyebrow. "That's it? That's the perfect name?" She had to admit that it had a ring to it. "Harry not Harold? And I thought you didn't want your child to have your name?"

James walked back to his wife. "You know I don't believe in naming children after family members. But I would like to honor my father, Harold. So Harry will do nicely. As for James...I think it fits, don't you?" He turned pleading eyes to Lily.

Biting her lip, Lily nodded, slowly. "Yes, James, it fits." She pulled him into a hug. "Harry James, it is." In the back of her mind she couldn't help but think it was the perfect name for her child.

They stood there staring at the sleeping baby for a while longer before they turned and left the nursery.

James stopped before closing the door and looked back at the cot. "Sleep well, Harry. May Merlin keep you safe." He whispered and closed the door, following after his wife who had already ducked into their room. "May Merlin keep you safe." He added as stepped into the master bedroom.
