Happy 18th Birthday~
Tadase Hotori was the perfect boyfriend. He loved his girlfriend so much that he couldn't explain what he felt in merely one sentence. She was perfect in his eyes.
But to her, he was not. Sure, he was the school 'prince', with killer good looks, and the sweetest personality in the world. He tried his best to spend time with her despite his busy schedule as Student Council President, but she was impatient. She was far from understanding, she was selfish, and she was annoying.
They had gotten into a fight one day about how he never seemed to spend any time with her anymore. He tried to explain that he had a busy schedule due to being an school activities, yet he tries as often as he can to contact her. She whined that it wasn't good enough, and that if he really loved her he would make more time for her. With a scoff she offhandedly remarked that maybe he shouldn't have become part of the Student Council in the first place, and to both their surprises he erupted in anger. Why couldn't she understand that this was what he had worked so hard for? He thought she had supported him on that. How could she not understand that he does love her, but he can't always shower her with his time and gifts everyday?
With a huff he realized that he had been to busy lost in love to notice just how horrible his girlfriend really was. She wasn't the sweet, perfect, and understanding girlfriend he saw her as; she was arrogant, impatient. In the beginning of their relationship things had been blissful; they sweetly spent time together as much as they could. But as time passed, she started to reveal her true colors and it was his fault for looking past them.
Giving her a sharp expression, he stated, "We're done. Don't bother me anymore." He spun his heel and walked away, hearing her horrendous wailing and her half-hearted apologies. She was probably just upset that she wasn't the lucky girl of the school prince anymore, or that he would no longer lavish gifts and love on her. His ex-girlfriend was a selfish brat and he rejoiced in having realized it before it was too late. He probably should have seen it sooner but it was better late than never. Satisfied, he headed back home, promising to never deal with girls like her again.
As time passed he wondered if he would ever fall in love again. His ex-girlfriend displayed his illusion of love, and he vowed to always keep his mind set on reality. Many girls confessed to him, but he turned them down. He wondered if he even deserved love anymore, for someone to love him as much as he loved her.
Then he met a girl who was the kindest of angels, the sweetest of strawberries, and he fell in love once again. And he knew that this love was real. That this love was worth it.
Her name was Nadeshiko Fujisaki.
