'Where am I?' The voice echoed off the cavern walls surrounding it.
The cold night air chilled the Pokemon's small body as it looked around. The Pokemon became afraid, cold, and confused, having no idea where it was and where anyone else was. The night air was like a blindfold over its deep red eyes but he soon saw a light off in the distance.
'What is that?' thought the eager, yet cautious Pokemon, as it shifted on its bouncy, black pad-like feet nervously unsure what to do.
The cold night air became unbearably chilly and he could not find shelter anywhere else around him on the barren cavern. He quietly walked over to the cavern wall and felt his way along to the light, slowly getting closer and closer...
"You do not need to hide, young Riolu." called a young, but wise voice from inside a huge cave in the cavern wall where the light was flowing out. "I am a friend. You must be hungry, come eat!"
Riolu did not move, he stood in the doorway watching the man cautiously. The man was a young, tall man with jet black hair wearing a blue cape and hat while holding a staff. It was the staff that the tiny Riolu feared the most, yet he did not let his fear show.
'Who are you' he asked the stranger.
"Telepathy?!" whispered the man. "For someone so young, you are powerful. My name is Sir Aaron or Aaron."
'What is the reason you are here and how did you notice me in this dark?'
"Ha." laughed Aaron, smiling at Riolu. "You are sharp. I was journeying home to my kingdom, when I found a soldier enslaving Lucario for their army. I came here to see if any had escaped. I wanted to take it as a pupil and teach it how to control aura so it could protect itself."
"Aura?" asked Riolu, unconsciously entering the cave and sitting on a rock near the fire.
"It is the soul or embodiment of all living things."
"And you can see aura?"
"Yes. I could teach you if you'd like."
Riolu said nothing, he just looked into the flames thinking about how he was now an orphan with no home.
'I would be honored to have you teach me.'
"Good." nodded Aaron holding out a large red apple. "But first, you need something to eat my friend."
Eventually Riolu came to trust Aaron as they became friends. They fought together to protect their kingdom and the aura by controlling aura and using each other. Six months later Riolu evolved into Lucario and learned to not only see and control aura but to use it as an attack. Lucario was happy, until one day the kingdom was under attack and his own master sealed him in the scepter to be released a century later never knowing why he was betrayed.
