Familiarity

He watches Galian a lot, because Galian reminds him of something. He'll tell himself, yeah, he looks familiar, he looks like somebody I know, but Nanashi always runs a blank when it comes to names - names from his forgotten past, that is.

It hits him one day that he's always looking at the cheekbones - Galian's cheekbones are shaped in a most curious way that prods him hard inside his mind. There's something there, he's sure of it but he doesn't know what.

"Nanashi," Galian's voice interrupts his thoughts, "why are you staring at me as if I'm a ARM on display?"

Nanashi bites back a smile at the image of Galian hung upon a display board and replies, "You look familiar - like somebody I know."

Galian's interest is peaked, as the older man straightens and inquires, "Who?"

Quietly, Nanashi realises that the other man thinks that he has recovered, and remembered. There is somebody, he knows, but it probably doesn't matter right now. He smiles, faintly, and says, "You."
