Lily Introducing James To Petunia

"James, I really don't think–"

"Lily, calm down, it's all gonna be fine. She's your sister, how bad can it be?"

Lily shook her head. He had no idea.

"Look, you don't know my sister, but I do! She–"

"Lily?" A different voice said.

James and Lily spun around, and saw Petunia walking down the driveway towards them.

"T-Tuney!" Lily stuttered. "I–"

James cut her off again. "Hi Petunia, I'm James. James Potter. I'm your sisters husband, and I guess your brother-in-law!" He held out his hand for her to shake.

Petunia stopped dead, and stared at the hand as though it wasn't human. Then she looked up at Lily. "I told you," She hissed, "Never to come back here!"

"Hey, now," James said, moving in front of Lily, but Petunia ignored him.

"I will not let your-your freakiness absorb into my perfectly normal, happy life! You get away from here, you take him and get away, do you hear me?" Petunia's chest was heaving, she looked like she was about to explode.

"Tuney, please!" Lily begged.

"NO!"

"You didn't always feel like this, remember! Remember when you wrote to Professor Dumbledore and asked him to let you into Hogwarts, too? Remember that?"

For a moment, Petunia froze, lip trembling, and curious look on her face–half furious, half despairing.

But it was gone in an instant, and she said in a low voice, "No, I don't remember, because freaks. Can't. Be. Trusted."

And with that, she spun on her heel and marched back towards her house, towards her perfectly normal and happy life, away from her freak sister and husband forever. And she didn't regret it.

At least until that fateful morning years later, when the only remains of those two people was found on her doorstep.
