Prologue: The Beginning
A/N: This is the short prologue for a new story I'm writing based on Tamora Piece books,
mainly The Immortals series. Those of you who do not like the Stormwing characters shouldn't
read this, I get the feeling you won't like it. This takes place during the time of the Immortals series.
Revkah is a year older than Daine, and was born in the Divine Realms. Here we go!
**********
As the woman walked, she cosidered the circumstances. Here was her child, half human half
Stormwing, who looked just like a haman child. What powers were this little girl hiding? How long could
this child live, located near the Sea of Sand? As The baby started crying, the woman turned to the problem at
hand and started feeding her, not knowing she was being watched.
***
Queen Barzha of the Stone Tree nation watched the young woman with the baby. That woman had been their captive
for about the last nine months. The woman had a mage husband who had found a way into the divine realms. Somehow
the woman had ended up here, saying her name was Rebeka but refusing to say her last name. She had borne a Stormwing
child, which was now a week old. Barzha wondered if the woman knew she was dying. Her sickness was unknown, though.
Barzha saw her mate fly down to Rebeka, saying her evening meal was ready. It consisted of water and bidge footed lizard
(A/N: it's a desert lizard), which Rebeka had to cook herself. The woman wrinkled her nose but ate anyway. Three days later
Rebeka was walking along the edge of the Sea of Sand when she fainted. A Stormwing dumped water on her, but she never
woke up again.
"Rikash!" Barzha called later that day. "Rikash come here!" A blonde Stormwing with green eyes and bones in
his braided hair came flying to her. "Rikash," Barza said," we cannot raise this child without her mother. Dispose of her."
Rikash flew to the eyerie where the baby lay. He raised his wings above the child's head when she started giggling. She grabbed a nearby tiny
bone and tried to wrap what little hair she had around it. Rikash dropped his wing to his side.
"Queen Barzha," he called, "must I? She's half Stormwing, and just look at her." The baby was still sitting there looking cute.
"Very well," Queen Barzha consented after a
few moments of thought, "but she's your responsibility. You know you're becoming sentimental, right?" With that she flew off to tell her mate.
Looking at the infant, Rikash said, "I shall call you Revkah. I'll decide your last name when you're older." Revkah giggled her delight, then
wrinkled her nose from the smell when she became downwind of him.
