Disclaimer: I do not own MTR. I found that out yesterday, when I tried watching it on Youtube.
So, yeah. My first crack at one of these. I should be working on "To Silence a Mockingbird" or "Of Arrows, Science, and Acrobatics" but…
Well, enjoy.
Wilbur was sitting in the living room, copying notes at ungodly speeds for the test that he would have to take in approximately four hours. He glanced at the clock a second time. Hmm, maybe three and a half. He shook his head, and continued to write down the same words over and over again. Thirty minutes later, his whole body was begging for sleep. His limbs felt like they were going to fall off, his eyes were completely dry and maybe even starting to itch, if he thought about it hard enough. Which he did. Finally he realized that if he fell asleep now, there would be no way he would be able to wake up in the morning. So, with that logic in mind, he stalked off to the kitchen to get some breakfast. He almost jumped out of his skin when he saw his dad sitting on a stool that lined the countertop.
"Hey…" he started, grabbing a cereal box from the pantry and a milk carton from the refrigerator, "What are you doing up so early?"
"I know what you did." He claimed bluntly, as Wilbur slid into the stool opposite of him.
"Um…" he scratched the back of his neck, sweat started to form at the base of his neck, and the back of his head was suddenly engulfed with fear, "Know about what…?"
He squinted at him.
"That was entirely irresponsible! Do you know what could've happened? I thought we raised you with some common sense in there!" He knocked on the thirteen-year-old's forehead. Oddly enough, his father was yelling, even gesticulating so far as to knock him on the forehead, but…he didn't seem mad. And Wilbur could always tell when his dad was mad, because a lot of the times he was, it was at him, for messing up his prototypes, failing a quiz, sneaking out to go somewhere while grounded
...leaving the garage unlocked...
but this time, he somehow was not mad.
"Um…"
"But we don't have to tell your mother about this, do we?" he chuckled.
Wait – what?
"Um…what are we talking about?"
"You didn't think I wouldn't find out?" he inquired, his tone a little sharper.
"Find out…about what?"
"You took me back to see my mom." He paused, then squinted again, "You do realize that if I would've done anything, there's a chance this future could be altered? So many people wouldn't have existed, yourself included, so many things wouldn't have been done!" his expression flickered to a smile, then settled on something in the middle,
"But, thanks. For giving me that choice. For keeping your promise." He stood up, and brushed off his lab coat.
"Now…you wouldn't happen to want a caffeine patch, would you? It would sure help with your weak stamina."
"Hey!" he stood up as well, "I'll have you know my stamina is very strong."
"So, you don't want the patch?"
"Well…maybe just one."
"And we tell your mom…?"
"Absolutely nothing."
"That's m'boy."
AN:
This was insanely short.
MWHAHAHAHA! I just realized something! During Wilbur's "pop quiz" thing in the movie, Lewis asks what his dad looks like, to which he responds "Like Tom Selleck." Now, at first this made me laugh really hard, but then as I look at the credits after the movie's done, I realize…Tom Selleck played Cornelius Robinson. Now, THAT made me DIE of laughter. xD
PS: REVIEW! Or I will sic the DINO on you!
