Twin wine-red orbs glanced around the desolate room in unimaginable melancholy, as his pale pianist fingers traced a pattern on the wall.
"Yuuki..." He breathed softly, hearing the clacks of his 'sister's' doll-like shoes trump down the hallway.
"Kaname-Onii-sama?" She called out quietly, he could feel her-his-eyes burning through the dull colored walls as she gave an inquiring stare the room he had so carefully concealed from her.
A small sigh escaped his pale lips, as he felt her presence fade into the next room.
"I'm sorry Yuuki..." He murmured gently, pushing away from the wall and pacing to a deteriorating dresser. With nimble fingers, he unfastened the lock on the first drawer and picked out a small picture frame; Just the size of his hand.
Carefully enclosed within the wooden frame; a small painting with vibrant colors of himself standing dashingly in a midnight black tuxedo, giving a genuine smile to the painter, as a young girl just looking 2 years younger than him, hung off his arm with innocence blooming on her angelic features. A sense of pride radiated of her, it was even caught in the painting.
He smiled at the thought of his sister, his real, sister. The way Yuuki resembled her was haunting. The same straight, flowing caramel hair, the innocence that beamed through their eyes, their petite structure that belied the fierceness and compassion they held within themselves.
His eyes glazed over in fond memories of happier nights, where smiling didn't seem so hard...
He quickly snapped himself back to the horrifying reality of now. The pain was simply too much... He silently placed the picture within the dresser once more before exiting out of the room with the swiftness of a cat.
Carefully placing the bookshelves back to hide their old bedroom, he found himself standing in what used to parlor-turned library
"There you are! I've been looking for you all day!" Yuuki reprimanded, seeming to come out of nowhere before giving a pitfully shy kiss on his cheek.
He forced himself to give a chuckle. The resemblance was so painful...
"C'mon Onii-sama, we need to get ready for the ball!" Yuuki tugged impatiently on his sleeve, as the action reminded him of his own son...
"Okay, okay if you insist." He teased, hoping to banish all thoughts of his former family, while also feeling his heart swell at the slight reddish tint on her cheeks.
He loved Yuuki for being different and yet, similar to her. She was his new light, his flame, his personal sun and yet...
"I hope everything goes well..." Yuuki chirped, her voice and face blending into hers.
...Kaname will always hold a place in his heart for her.
A/N: Since Kaname is the Kuran family ancestor, I've always wondered about the family he probably had before, well... whatever put him to sleep inside that coffin. :) I hope you enjoyed this story as much as I had fun writing it! P.S: Sorry for any of the grammar/spelling mistakes
