A Typical Day in A Servant's Life

Author's Note: A fan fic for Daughter of Evil/Servant of Evil. Enjoy! One shot. (The title doesn't fit well . . .)

Rin was looking out of her window, impatiently waiting for her servant Len to bring her the afternoon's tea. The mean princess usually got very upset when her tea was late, and today was no different. So out the window she looked, across the sea, to the other kingdom. The Blue Kingdom. The kingdom that her true love, Prince Kaito, ruled.

"Len! Bring me my tea now!" she exclaimed.

"I'm coming princess!" he answered. Len came rushing into the room with the tea on a tray. Because he was going so fast, he tripped on his own two feet and spilled the tea all over Rin.

"Len! You spilled tea on my new dress! How could you?! You are so clumsy!"

"I'm sorry your highness. I really am!" Len bowed to her before cleaning the mess up. When he was finished, he escorted the princess to her bedroom and left to allow her to change. Then he thought to himself, I wish my sister were kinder to me. I love my sister and all, but it's no wonder others don't like her. It's no wonder that prince doesn't want to marry her. It's no wonder he'd rather marry a kind girl. How could she miss it?

Len sometimes wished that he had never found Rin, but instead had just gone his entire life wondering where his twin was. Then he could have led a life that most other fourteen-year-old boys led. He could be out seeing the world! That's what he had intended to do after he found Rin. His plan was to find her and then go explore. But Rin had made him her servant instead.

He also wondered what life would be like if he had never found Rin. Surely no one would get mad at him over every little thing like Rin did. She always went over the top to get what she wanted. Even if it meant killing someone. If she was out of money then she'd just take it from the people who lived in her kingdom! As though they were super rich! She also killed a maiden's lover one time.

But he knew deep down inside that the reason Rin was the way she was had to do with how she was raised. Rin wasn't cruel at heart. She had been raised to think that she was the best and deserved to get what she wanted. She really needed better guardians.

"Len! I'm finished now. Come escort me back down to the dining room and serve me more tea."

Len sighed and took Rin by the arm. They went back to the dining room together. Then Len brought Rin more tea and managed to not spill it on her this time. "Today bread will be served with your tea, Princess Rin," he told her and smiled. She returned the smile and laughed innocently, as though she wasn't the evil princess that most people thought she was.
