Chapter One: Alone
"EDWARD!"
"AL! STOP IT! YOU CAN'T GO!"
"NO! I FINALLY FOUND HIM, I WON'T LET HIM GO!"
Alphonse Elric struggled to get free from Roy Mustang's grip so he could reunite with his brother Edward, who was slowly disappearing through the Gate to the "other world" never to be seen again as Roy destroyed the gate.
"WHY DID YOU DO THAT!?" Cried Al in anguish. "WHY DIDN'T YOU LET ME GO TO HIM!?"
"Because you belong here, in this world. This is your home." Said Roy, still holding down the fiercely struggling Alphonse.
"WHAT DOES IT MATTER?! I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING HERE! EDWARD WAS ALL THAT I HAD! AND NOW I HAVE NOTHING!" Cried Alphonse with tears now streaking down his face.
"That's not true Al…You have all of us."
"Wi…Winry?" Asked Al between sobs.
"You have so much here. Friends who are almost like family, memories…"
"MEMORIES!? WINRY, THE PAST FOUR YEARS OF MY LIFE HAVE BEEN A BLANK! ED WAS MY ONLY LINK TO THEM!"
"WHAT ABOUT ME, ROY, ARMSTRONG … THE LIST GOES ON! AL YOU'RE NOT ALONE…you're not…" Winry shot back, now breaking into tears.
Alphonse, now on his hand and knees was struck with realization, slowly got to his feet and uttered only five words. "I'm not alone, am I?"
"No you're not" replied Winry, embracing Al. "We'll find away to get over Ed together. But in the meantime you should get some rest."
"There's a hotel about twenty-five minutes from here that from what I've seen wasn't damaged in the fight. The Military will pay the bills as gratitude or your services Alphonse" Roy finally said after watching the exchange between Alphonse and Winry.
"Thank you" replied Alphonse and Winry in unison.
All of them were unaware of the Stalking eyes that lurked in the shadows in the city's ruble
