Emma blushed when she felt Ethan's full attention on her with out it being in anger or annoyance.
He can't do this as it made her heart beat way too fast, and her face color red.
She was not sure what she'd do if their father, Alfred, wasn't in the room.
It was times like these when she realized that she and Michigan weren't fully related, and that what they had going on in their life was more than a sibling squabble.
Oh, she hated this!
She longed for those naive days when they were children, and she hadn't realized what she felt yet.
Now, that she knew, she felt that it was always on her mind.
Emma knew that if she ignored it, it wouldn't go away, and that may be if she tried to really know any of the other states well that she might fall for one of them instead.
Then again, she wasn't sure what she'd say to the other ones; with Ethan it was decided that every word would come out harsh and scathing.
This moment defied that logic, and she waited for him to do something; kiss her, perhaps.
His blue eyes that appeared so dark at the moment entranced her, and she wondered if he was confused about how this hatred and rivalry of theirs had turned in to this love.
Emma felt her heart beat harder and faster, but she was still too scared and too shy to do anything.
She longed for his touch, or for him to do something.
Emma wanted a kiss from Ethan for what felt like the first time in her life.
She waited, and anticipated the kiss; she wondered if it would seem as harsh and sarcastic as he was to her.
Ethan glanced around, seemingly just as nervous as she was; his eyes took in the sight of his, no their, father as well as the other states.
He knew that what he felt for his elder, female state could be percieved as wrong.
Was it really incest when they weren't related all that well or could the intense rivalry and hatred make love seem impossible?
Ethan figured that since it wasn't like him to be cowardly, and not give his all in to whatever he did that he'd kiss her just once to see if it was gross like his mind told him or as wonderful as his heart said it would be.
He tucked her light colored hair away, and kissed her like his life depended on it.
The shorter woman reached up and kissed him with all her might; like a flower, she seemed to bloom in to the kiss.
Ethan tucked her against him as he felt his resistence breaking as he couldn't help but savor this moment, this kiss between them.
Emma curled ever closer as if there was still a massive gap between them that needed to be destroyed,
She could hear New York gasp, and the other woman's surprised exclamations.
Ohio could hear her father tell them to, "Cut it out or get a room."
Emma wasn't oblivious to all the gossip about how long this had to have been going on or why in the world did Michigan and Ohio kiss when everyone knew that they hated each other and could barely even be in the same room with out fighting.
Alfred seemed to not be able to process the fact that two of his states had gotten together, especially the two least likely to get together.
Ohio first herself to shut out all of the noise for the first time in her life and focus on Ethan.
Ethan seemed to not care about what everyone else said, and for that she envied him.
Emma soon enough lost herself in the kiss that had better expressed their feelings than anything else that she knew of that happened when they were together: all of the fighting.
She was scared that this would all lead to disaster when in fact they seemed to get along for the most part as states.
Football season always pulled them apart as they tried to practically kill each other, and even during other days of the year, a good insult seemed neccessary for them; they still bickered and tried to see who was the better state, but now they kissed as well as found ways to resolve arguments and just be their human halves together.
