Victoire Weasley. Head Girl. Gryffindor Chaser. Part Veela. Most Popular girl in school.
On the outside, her life looked perfect. On the inside however, it was a different story. You see, it's hard being Victoire Weasley. Victoire Weasley. Just being a Weasley made it hard enough. It's not easy being the first kid from your generation of the family to come to Hogwarts. Especially when you have a surname you really need to live up to. One of her uncles was a world renowned expert on dragons. The next one was head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation. The uncle after that ran the largest and most successful joke shop in the country. Two of her uncles and her aunt made up the Golden Trio, the heroes of the Second Wizarding War. One of those uncles and her own mother were Triwizard Champions in the most recent Triwizard Tournament. And that same uncle was Harry Potter.
Yes, Harry Potter. The Boy who Lived, the Chosen One, the one who defeated You-Know-Who, yes, that one. So it's safe to say that hearing to pause as the Professors reached her name reading the register on the first day of term was a bit unnerving, especially as they all seemed rather interested to know if she had her family's talent.
Being part Veela also came with its own share of problems. Sure she had boys looking at her all the time, but how could she know which ones actually cared about her as a person? She doubted any of them actually did.
The other thing she hated was her birthday. Ever since she was little her birthday had always been a sad occasion. Her family were always very subdued, especially Uncle George. She'd asked why it was like this on her fourth birthday.
'Today, two years before you were born, there was a big battle, Vic. You remember, the one where Uncle Harry beat the bad wizard? The sad thing is, your Uncle Fred died in that battle too, and Teddy's parents,' explained Aunt Hermione, tears welling up in her eyes.
If she'd thought her birthday would be better once she got to Hogwarts, she was sadly mistaken as well. At Hogwarts, the 2nd of May wasn't Victoire Weasleys Birthday; it was the anniversary of the Battle, and she just happened to have been born then. All the students and professors attended a memorial service on that day, so it was never much of a fun occasion.
In all honesty, the only thing, or rather person that kept her going was Teddy. Once her best friend, now her boyfriend and best friend, Teddy Lupin wrote to her every day, and she always wrote back. On the morning of her 18th birthday, there were several letters dropped next to her at breakfast, but she knew straight away which one she'd open first.
Dear Vic,
Happy 18th Birthday, love! I'm thinking of you all day long!
Your,
Teddy.
