Grey clouds hadn't lifted since the rain the night before, casting a bit of a gloom over the springtime greens of the southern Welsh countryside and enveloping everything in a chill. A perfect day for snuggling on the sofa with a milky coffee and a cosy mystery. And that was exactly what Ianto Jones was doing, leaning in against Jack and trying to convince himself that he wasn't going slip into a nap before the coffee kicked in.
"You look in imminent danger of drowsing," Jack said, taking Ianto's finished coffee mug and setting it aside for him.
"Nope. Not going to," Ianto insisted.
"We could nap together. Might be nice. Nothing needing done that won't keep."
"I hate naps, Jack."
"I know," Jack smirked. "But… me."
Ianto rolled his eyes, but couldn't help snuggling a little more against Jack and letting his eyes close for a few moments while listening to the prime suspects try to explain their way out of trouble with the local Detective Inspector.
When Ianto opened his eyes, he found himself gazing out the window where all was still grey and dull, but he was struck by how little he minded it. Jack often teased him for his stereotypical Welsh complaints about weather, but just at the moment, he was rather content with the gloomy afternoon. The trees just outside were beginning to unfurl their little green leaves, and there was burst of yellow down the way from the forsythia ranging along the stream. Soon, spring would be in full bloom and summer's warmth would be well on the way.
It wasn't so bad, he decided, spending an afternoon in on a grey, chilly day when you had all the warmth and light you needed right at your side. Naps… well, the jury was still out on that one. Even if they were with Jack. Of course, naps with Jack rarely involved any rest, so Ianto was prepared to consider revising his opinion of those as well.
"You, Jack. Very definitely you," Ianto smiled warmly, resting his head on Jack's shoulder.
