**Door? Crack? Psh, it's all the same in the end.**
"Tada!"
Sulley opened his eyes, and was speechless. "Mike…" He breathed. "Is that…?"
Mike hid his hands sheepishly behind his back. "Sorry it took so long, pal." He chuckled and held them out, their pads covered in scratches, splinters, and wood shavings. "It was a lot of wood to go through."
He couldn't move, not even his mouth would work. How was this even possible? And could it…?
"You know, it only works if you have every peace," Mike said, answering the unspoken question.
Sulley frowned and looked down at his clip board. The last peace, ready and waiting. With careful precision, he pulled the fragment out with his clawtips, looked at it for a moment, and moved forward. As if in slow motion, he slid it into place.
*Bing* The sound was barely audible, but the light glowed strong just the same.
He looked down at his lifelong friend, together since college and somehow always finding new ways to surprise him. Mike nodded, smiled slightly, and stepped away from the door.
With tentative fingers, Sulley grabbed the door handle, turned it, and opened the door. He looked through…
And froze in the doorway.
This was not Boo's bedroom.
Although, it was A bedroom. A human child's bedroom. There was the bed, in the corner, with a nightstand and lamp close by, and there were the toys and drawings that littered every human floor Sulley had ever seen. But this was not Boo's room – not the one he remembered, anyway.
And these two people in front of him were not Boo. One was tall, an adult for certain, wearing rumpled clothes and looking far more disheveled than he'd imagined parents to be. It was carrying a small silver device, and looking at him in pure shock, and perhaps in a little awe. Behind him peeked a stunned little girl wearing a red coat, no doubt the owner of this room.
Sulley looked closer at the girl, wondering if perhaps this was actually older-Boo, but no. Brown hair didn't magically turn into red hair and freckles, did it? Maybe humans were different than monsters. But he still needed to check.
"Boo?" Sulley asked.
"Of course you'd say that," the adult grumbled. The girl just blinked at him, staring him up and down. Must not scare easily, Sulley thought.
The adult's hand fidgeted with his silver device and Sulley tensed, wondering if it was a weapon. "Hello there, you big…thing." It seemed at a loss for words, its eyes flicking between Sulley and something behind him. "Not to be rude or anything, but can I ask what you're doing in a crack in the wall?"
