Farewell my Baby
InuYasha's POV
Kagome Higurashi gave our son, Hikaru, to me.
"Take care of him," she said as she hopped into the Bone Eater's well. I looked at the bundle that was my son. The half-demon was what he was. I was a half-demon also. I watched him grow. When he was three, he looked like a mini me.
One day, he asked me, "Daddy, where's Mommy?" I wanted to tell him, but I didn't.
I just said, "Mommy is in a far off place, but Mommy asked Daddy to take care of you." After seven years, he still looked just like me, but shorter. I took him on one of my demon hunts. If I had know that he wasn't strong enough, I wouldn't have taken him.
During the hunt, we found the demon. I tried to kill it, but it hit me and I was smashed against a boulder.
"Demon, you shall pay," shouted Hikaru. He ran to attack and the demon struck him in the face. Hikaru managed to blind the demon, but the demon grabbed him. I took Tetsusaiga and used the wind scar to kill the demon. The demon self-destructed after the wind scar. I found Hikaru laying near a tree. I knew he had a few moments to spare.
"Dad, take me to Mom," he said. I picked him up and ran to the well. I hopped in and hoped that Kagome was home.
Modern era
Kagome's POV
I saw InuYasha come out of the well house and jump up to my bedroom window. I ran up to my bedroom only to find InuYasha placing a boy that look about ten on my bed. The blood stained my new white sheets.
"Kagome, Hikaru wants to speak with you," InuYasha said. I walked over to my bed and sat next to the boy.
"Mom, I made a mistake, but I'm happy because I was not full human nor full demon. No one liked me excepted Dad, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kaede, and you," Hikaru said. I picked up Hikaru's head and held it near my heart as to think my heart would keep his pumping. InuYasha came over and held Hikaru and me.
"Farewell my son, my baby," I said as he started to stop breathing.
"See you in heaven," he said. This were his last words that he would ever speak to me. I cried on InuYasha's shoulder and I knew he was crying too.
Mom, Grandpa, and Sota said good-bye to the child they never knew. Grandpa said a prayer for my son. InuYasha and I were taking Hikaru back to the feudal era to bury him in the world that he knew.
Feudal era
Inu's POV
Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kaede, Myoga, and the villagers were at Hikaru's funeral. Kagome and me stood next to Miroku and Sango. I earlier had caved a tombstone for Hikaru. Kagome cried and I looked at the ground. Some other people cried. Hikaru and me were the village protectors. Hikaru was called names, but Hikaru didn't care about the names and now the villagers that had called him names came. Kaede said one last prayer before everyone left except Kagome, Sango, Miroku, and me. I knew this was my fault, so, I started to cry.
"InuYasha, why are you crying?" Miroku asked, but was elbowed by Sango.
"Because it's my fault that he died because I asked him if he wanted to help me," I cried.
The sun was setting and Kagome and me were left at the grave. The grave was next to the sacred tree. I left and I watched Kagome read the tombstone. The tombstone read:
Hikaru Higurashi
2007-2017
He was a great son, nephew, grandson, great-grandson, and friend.
'Farewell, My baby'
Kagome walked to the well with tears in her eyes.
"He's waiting for us in heaven," I said.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," she said.
"See you soon," I said. She smiled and waved good bye and hopped into the well and she was in her own time and I was in mine.
