New Fic: Hold You in My Arms (AU)
Song by Ray LaMontagne
Hello all and welcome to my new story! I really like this so far and I'm hoping you will all enjoy it. It's definitely angst. Definitely. But angst can be fun right? So yeah it's a drama/angst/romance story. But it will have a happy ending.. I'm not that mean. And it is MerDer.. eventually. Some things are worth the wait.
I will say on my other stories I do a fine job updating them. This story.. it may be updated a few times a week.. or once or twice. It honestly just depends on the week. I'm insanely busy but I just couldn't help but write this story when it came to my head. I already pretty much know how I'd like it to end so I won't abrubtly stop or anything. This story will get finished.
Okay that's all. I hope you enjoy. And remember I love comments.. the more comments.. the more inspiration.. probably the quicker the update.. (:

Raindrops keep failling on my head by B.J. Thomas.
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me
"Cristina!" George shouted while walking toward the bathroom with a toothbrush in hand.
"What?" Cristina shouted with her coffee in a mug and hair all over, she quickly raced down the hall and stuck her head in Meredith's bathroom.
"She won't get up." George sighed as Cristina entered.
"Ugh." Cristina groaned. Knowing what George was talking about, she quickly turned out of the bathroom and bursted through Meredith's door.
"Meredith!" she growled. "Get up and out of bed right this instant!"
Meredith sighed and slowly stretched her arms only to throw them back down on the bed. She shook her head and turned over.
"Com'on Mer, we will be late." George whimpered from the hallway.
She yawned and then turned over again. "Yeah, so?"
"So? Surgeries Grey!" Cristina ordered. "We gotta get their first to claim them and then we can yell at our eager little interns.. make them do charts, get us lattes, go to the pit.. it'll be fun!" she said eagerly.
Cristina sighed realizing Meredith still wasn't moving. "Mer, what's going on?"
Meredith hesitated for a moment. "I've got this feeling. I don't know what it is but it's telling me to stay home today." She sighed as she opened her eyes to Cristina. "I know it sounds weird, but I just have to stay home today." She picked up the pillow at her side and put it over her face and groaned.
Cristina rolled her eyes. "You need something to happen. Anything. I'm sick of you waking up every day with such lack of enthusiasm. Seriously Mer, let's go drinking tonight or something."
Meredith groaned again.
"Mer?" Cristina asked, annoyed waiting for her response.
She groaned once more. "Yeah, maybe.. I don't know." She sat up quickly. "I'm taking a shower."
Cristina rolled her eyes. "Fine Mer I'm leaving- you're going to be late." Cristina walked quickly out of her room to find George still listening.
"Let's go." Cristina said angrily.
"But, Meredith?" George asked.
"Yeah she's moping. What else is new?" Cristina ran and grabbed her keys. "Fine. I'll take my bike and meet you guys there. Don't be too late." she laughed bitterly and left the house.
Meredith slowly let the warm water from the shower collide with her skin till it burned. She then began to wonder when her life had become so boring.
Her mother had told her to be extraordinary and instead she was nothing special. She was the girl who nobody really knew; who would hide her emotions and be a hard ass at work. All she wanted to do was drown herself in a bottle of tequila right now and instead she had to put up with 4 whiny, surgical hungry interns.
Once the water wore cold, she began getting dressed for work.

"Deisel, you're with Bailey. Marquet, Haun is looking for you. Hopkins, you're on scut, and Phillips, you're with Sloan." Meredith spoke coldly. She didn't want to be here. Not at 5:30 in the morning anyway. Maybe she'd take a vacation.
"Mer?" Cristina asked again. Too busy day dreaming, Meredith hadn't noticed Cristina or the fact that her interns had left.
"What?" Meredith jumped, "Jesus, you scared me."
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Good morning ladies." Mark smiled.
"Ugh Sloan. Way to interrupt." Cristina said as she rolled her eyes.
"Mark, did you get Phillips?" Meredith asked. "I sent him to you a minute ago. He better not have run off again or I swear I'll-"
"Gettin' me coffee as we speak." Mark smiled. "So, what was I interrupting?" he said giving them a dirty grin.
Cristina slapped his bicep. "Get your head out of the gutter! I was just asking if you guys heard who the new attending was?"
"What? There's no new attending." said Mark.
"No," Cristina shaked her head, "He's not here yet. I guess he gets in today. Apparently he's a neurosurgeon- thank the lord. If he was a cardio god I'd have to step up my game. Good luck Mer."
"What?"
"Well, aren't you thinking about specializing in neurology? It's all you ever talk about. That trial? Isn't it for brain tumors?" Cristina asked.
"I'm not finished with all the research yet, but yeah it is. That doesn't mean I'm definitely going to go into neurosurgery."
"Grey, just because you're mother was a general surgeon, doesn't mean you have to be one too." Mark sighed.
Meredith shook her head at him. He knew her like a book. "Yeah, I know. So, tell me more about this neurosurgeon." she asked, trying to change the subject.
Cirstina roller her eyes. "Well, apparently he's the best on the east coast. He's written books, articles.. you name it."
Mark laughed and nudged Meredith. "Wow, maybe you do have competition."
"He doesn't scare me. Maybe I'll get him in on my clinical trial. Put his ego to rest."
"What happens if you guys get it right?" Cristina chuckled.
"Hmm.. then it's all thanks to me!" she said happily.
Cristina nodded her head still chuckling, "Bright and shiny Mer? It doesn't work for you."
"I like it." Mark said smiling. "Reminds me of the good ole' days."
Meredith cleared her throat, "Yeah.. the um.. the good days. Well I'm gonna go. Check.. I'm gonna check on my whiny interns." She said as she began to walk away.
"So I was thinking Friday.."
"Forget it Sloan." Cristina laughed.
"Seriously?" Mark whinned.
"Never gonna happen." She smiled. "What is she doing?"
Meredith had gotten halfway down the hall about to turn when she saw Richard speaking to someone. But it wasn't just anyone.
"What are you doing?" Mark and Cristina asked her as they came up from behind.
"Ahh." She winced as they spooked her causing her to drop her files on the ground in front of her. It sucked that she was the biggest klutz around.
"A little jumpy today Mer?" chuckled Cristina.
"Shoot Mer, sorry." Mark laughed slightly as he followed her and planned to help her pick up the files until he looked up.
"Oh my God. Meredith?" Mark said in disbelief as he nudged Meredith but she refused to stand and tried to gather her files up as quickly as possible, keeping her head tilted down towards the ground. She had to get out of here.
"Mark?" the man said shocked, not noticing the tiny blonde behind him on the floor.
"What are you doing here, man?" Mark said excitedly, racing to say hello to his old friend.
"Just arrived. I'm here for work," he said as he walked up to Sloan but something behind him caught his eye, "Is no one going to help her?" he smiled shaking his head, walking past Mark to the blonde.
"Here let me help you." He said as he got down on his knee and picked up the remaining papers on the floor.
"No it's umm.. it's fine I got it."
That voice. He recognized it immediately. It was the first thing that ever drew him to her when they were kids. They both stood up and time stood still.
"Meredith." It was more a statement than a question.
"Derek." She said calmly, pretending her heart wasn't skipping beats or still broken after all these years. Yeah, she should not have come to work today.
