It was a gorgeous afternoon in the faraway land of Nervania. Everything was peaceful, and everyone was happy. Princess Yuridia, the princess of Nervania, sighed as she brushed her long, brown hair. Her emerald eyes sparkled with grief. Suddenly, a knock rang out at her bedroom door. "Yuridia? Are you alright?" asked an old voice. The door opened to reveal her grandfather, Solomon. Her grandfather was king of Nervania. She gave a small smile. "I'm fine, grandfather."
Though King Solomon knew it was a lie. Yuridia had not been truely happy in a long time. You see, she had once been in love with Prince Daiku of another land called Reniphier. They had been together for a long time, and Yuri actually felt as if she were in love. But her heart had been shattered when she caught Daiku cheating on her with Princess Izumi of Fenrir. Ever since, she has not been truely happy. "Um, my dear, Knight Jonouchi has requested a stroll with you." The princess's eyes widened. "Knight Jonouchi?" she repested. He nodded. Jonouchi was a great friend of hers. She attemped to conceal her smile. "Very well." she said simply. She arose from her seat, her velvet dress sparkling in the sunlight that streamed through her window.

The scarlet eyes never ceased their staring at the princess. The eyes belonged to the banished sorcerer Atem. He glared at the pretty face of the princess. Atem had a special power of seeing very far away. Even from miles away, outside his castle of cold stone, he could see her face. Atem smirked. "So, that is the face of the fair princess." he sneered. A flash of dark power appeared on his hand. After a moment, a long, black scepter was clutched in his palm. He pointed it at Yuridia. "Time to pay up, Solomon, you fool."

Yuridia and Jonouchi walked down the chestnut path in the sun-lit forest. Yuri was silent, staring up at the sapphire sky, daydreaming. Jonouchi brushed some of his blond bangs out of his face. "Princess, you are awfully quiet today." he said. "Is something troubling you?" Yuri blinked out of her trance and looked at him. "Oh, thank you, Jonouchi, but I'm fine." she replied. Jonouchi was taken away for a moment by the way the sunlight glistened on Yuri's face. He flushed and nodded weakly. Jonouchi had always thought that Yuri was beautiful, but he was too shy to tell her his feelings. Suddenly, a black shadow bursted out of the ground. Yuri and Jonouchi both gasped at the sight of it. It seemed to stand straight like a person, but it said nothing. "What the-?!" cried Jonouchi. Then, it lunged at Yuri and surrounded her, In the blink of an eye, it and the princess were gone. "YURIDIA!"
