The Lost Love

Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate Atlantis.

Summary: This takes place in an alternate reality where Atlantis didn't escape the Asuran attack, during the final moments before Atlantis is destroyed.

Rodney was dead. Zelenka was dead. Sheppard was dead. Everyone was dead. The beam had drained the shield to nonexistance. It was carving Atlantis up, killing anyone it hit. I had to get to her. She was still alive. I ran, narrowly avoiding the beam as it cut through the corridor about a hundred feet behind me. The section it had severed filled with water and sank. I couldn't look back. Reaching her meant I could let the end come, as long as I was in her arms, and she was in mine.

I made it to the central spire. I hurried to reach the control room. Just a few more feet . . . I saw her face, leaped across a fissure that had formed where the stresses were taking their toll.

I landed, ran, grabbed her hand, turned. Saw the beam slicing towards us. If I could get the force field up, we could survive for a little longer.. I hurried to enter the code, then looked. I had seconds left. I activated the field. A second too late. The beam was inside the shield's perimeter. As it raced towards us, I looked into the eyes of Teyla Emmagan, the light of my life since I came to Atlantis.

"I love you." I said, not looking away.

"I love you, too, Ronon." She said, then we pulled each other into a passionate kiss as the red glow of the beam penetrated my eyelids.

A moment of agony, then . . . blackness. As my brain shut down, I realized that the only regret I had was not having realized how much I loved her sooner.

Sweet nothingness. Even as death took me, I could feel her presence. We died, locked in each other's arms and lips. She was my last thought.

A/N: I'm thinking of writing some Stargate Fanfics. If you want to help, check out the forum Atlantis Extremus.
