She was sitting on the couch when she heard it. A faint knocking on the door registered in her ears. She pushed the cover off of her legs and stood. It was almost twelve in the morning and she didn't have a clue as to who would be at the door. She turned the TV off with a push on the remote.
Slowly, she walked to the door. She saw an unruly brown head through the peephole. Without another thought, she threw the door open. "Heero, what are you doing here?" As she looked him over, she noticed the stark pain on his face. His right hand gripped his left shoulder. She could see a red liquid seeping through his shirt.
"You're hurt. What happened?" She asked. She grabbed his arm and started leading him into the apartment. "Here, sit down." She got him to sit on the couch.
She ran towards the bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit under the sink and a towel. When she made it back to the living room it was to find Heero with his shirt off. His hand was still pressed on his bleeding shoulder.
She knelt down in front of him and put the towel to his shoulder. "Hold that." With that order she turned back to the first aid kit. She opened it and looked around inside. She grabbed the gauze, bandages, peroxide, and antibiotic ointment.
"Ok. I'm ready." Taking the towel from him, she poured peroxide on the wound. She didn't miss the telltale tensing of his body as the peroxide hit the wound.
The blood had slowed so she could finally get a good look at his shoulder. It looked like his shoulder had been sideswiped by a bullet. All in all it wasn't as bad as she thought. Nothing had actually went into his shoulder.
She rinsed the shoulder with peroxide again before drying it. She smoothed the antibiotic ointment over the wound before placing the bandage on top of it. Then using white tape she made sure it wouldn't come off.
"All done," She stated as she smiled at him. "You don't have any more wounds do you?" She asked. He lifted his arm revealing another wound almost the same as the first on his right side. Thankfully, this wound wasn't as deep. She made quick work of treating that wound.
She stood and walked away. She put up the kit and threw away the towel and his shirt. Once she came back into the room, she stared at him. She saw him watching her as well. "I don't expect you to explain. I trust you, but you really need to be more careful."
She sat beside him on the couch. His face was pale and his eyes were a little less guarded then normal.
"We have class in 6 hours. You need to get some sleep. I'll help you to my room." She helped him to stand and threw his uninjured arm over her shoulder. They walked to her room that way and she deposited him on the bed. She removed his shoes and set them beside the bed.
"Good night Heero." She closed the door behind her. Taking a deep breath, she fell to the floor. She had never felt such strong fear as when he stood at her door bleeding.
"What are you doing, Heero?" The tears fell from Usagi's eyes as she slammed a fist onto the ground.
